DEDICATION To Miss Greta Oppe, whose services and contributions cannot be measured by years or rewarded by words, we dedicate this, the 1965 Purple Quill. Miss Oppe is among the many educators whose active teaching careers were concluded at the close of the 1963-1964 school year. A native Galvestonian, Miss Oppe was graduated from Ball High School and pre- pared herself to enter the teaching profession, in which profession she established an enviable record. It would be difficult to find a more loyal or dedicated teacher. While serving as head of the Science Department, Little Miss Oppe, inspired many students in her chemistry classes, made numerous contributions to the fields of science, and received many recognitions at local, State, and National levels. Generations of Ball High graduates owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Miss Oppe because she did something that very few teachers have ever done. She gave over 50 years of her life to the children of Galveston. We of the staff of the Purple Quill hope that we, as students, live up to the high ideals practiced by Miss Greta Oppe.
