SMITH HARTLEY One year letterman End BOBBY GARCIA One year letterman Halfback Oranye Zfyers Gayeof 26-6 Orange, Nov. 9-Sparked by a great Ball High defense, the Golden Tornadoes of the Island City breezed to their second 11-AAAA victory, 26-6, over the hapless Orange Tigers. Orange couldn't get past the Ball 40 until late in the fourth period when they punched over their only score. Jerry Payne accounted for the Tors first touch- down on a 15-yard slant. D. G. Kobs passed to Gregory Reckoff for a 63-yard scoring play. Kobs accounted for the Tors' third score on his quarter- back roll-out play. ,Iames Shukanes accounted for the last Tor tally, climaxing a 60-yard Ball march by pouncing over from the five. The win climaxed a happy homecom- ing for the lslanders. Gregory Reckoff caught a pass from D. G. Kobs for the initial score, and in a rapid parade of TD,s, Kobs tallied twice, Bobby Garcia picked up a pair of six pointers, and Ronnie Graber crossed the double stripe. Ball led 40-0 at the half. A staunch Ball line failed to be moved and held a weak Greenie of- fense in check all the way. The ROTC, BHS band and Tornettes presented a gala pre-game show to arouse enthusiasm for the game. Erasmo Herrera reaches for a Tor aerial for a big Ball gain. W1 JOHN TAYLOR One year letterman Guard if'-' i7Ol'15' f70,0yoQ f off gjrffuzg 27-7 Port Arthur, Nov. 16-Ball Highls Tornadoes became the first team ever to defeat the Port Arthur Yellow Jackets three years in a row, by overcoming an early 7-0 deficit to smash the Jackets 27-7. With the score T-0, D. G. Kobs tossed a fourth down pass to Gregory Reckoff for a 28-yard scoring pass. Seconds before halftime, Reckoff snatched another pass to give Ball a 14-7 halftime advantage. In the third quarter, Ball rolled almost at will through the Jackets, as Herrera and Kobs both posted six-pointers. Herrera's score came on a spectacular 42-yard run to close out scoring for the night. Gregory Reckoff hauls in a Ball pass for a substantial gain for the Purple and Gold. '2i. :- D. C.
