Once there was a flock of geese. They were kept in a wire cage, by a former. One day, one of the geese looked up and saw that There was no top to the cage. Look, look: There is no top. We may leave here. We may become free. Few listened, and none would turn his head to the sky. 50, one day, he simply spread his wings and flew owoy e alone. The senior co-captains were Rhonda Cooley and Cathy Ferrari. Led by their leadership and consistent play, the team was able TO campife a 10-l4 record. Rhonda and Cathy were also four year players. Other senior members were Patty Walker, Marjana Popavich, and Karen Bauer. lst ROW: Dianne Turner, Cathy Ferrari, Rhonda Cooley, Jane McCandless. 2nd ROW: Marianne SchuHe, Kathy Brown, Patti Walker, Barbara Danielson. 3rd ROW: Marianne Knake, Karen Bauer, Jeannette Ortiz, Bonnie Sonich, Sandy Schneebele 4th ROW: Marianne McDewtt, Mirjano Popovich, Roe HeisnEr, 58 McCandless, Cooley Ortiz, Ferrari Setting up that important final shot A spirited and scrappy balchub, this yearts Jackette basketball team showed improved play over last season. The team was comprised primarily of underclass personnel. The experience gained by these players will provide a good nucleus for next years team. Jane McCandless and Marianne Knake were first and second leading scorers respectively. Senior Rhonda Cooley showed a great deal of hustfe as well as being third leading scorer. Patty Walker showed outstanding defense while Cathy Gette made her presence known by grabbing rebounds. McCandless, Knake Rhonda Cooley The 1976 Jackette softabll team was yOung, but much improved over the previous season. Led by seniors Rhonda Cooley and Cheryl Seaman, the team continued to progress as the season went an, to finish with a 7-7 record. Rhonda, a 4 year veteran, was one of the stranger hitters. Also leading the team were Pat McGill and Cathy Brawn, bath tri-captains. Pat was the leading hitter and was also CI consistent and steady player. Cathy showed much control and improvement as the pitcher. With most of the players returning next year, next season should be even more improved. 69 70 It was a rebuilding season for the 1976 women's swimming team, Even though the team was small in number, The spirit and enthusiasm was very high. This is a very important factor to a team that is rebuilding, because the girls will look forward to the next season. With the experience gained and the continued enthusiasm, next season should be much improved. Pam Piper was outstanding in every way. Not only did she compile an undefeated record in the individual events. she brought experience and leadership to the team. lsr ROWa K, Brown, R. Cooley, P. Daryl Bonds Their 0-7 record is not a valid indication of the value the girls received from participating in the Sport. They gained experience, but more importantly they enjoyed the excitement of competition. The team was led by senior captain Miriona Popovich. Other seniors were Sara Roe, Lisa Team, and Christi FelumIee. With this number of people leaving, next year will be a rebuilding season but with the experience gained this year, you can look for some improvement. Kathy Dus Marianne Knake Miriuna Popovich The T976 trackteam, coached by veteran Poul Sparky Adams enjoyed probably their greatest season ever. They compiled a perfect 12-0 record to give Sparky his first undefeated season. Included in their String of victOries was the Grand Slam of OAC track, which consisted of all 4 championships t2 indoor and 2 outdoorl. This year's team saw I7 men advance to the Nationals in Chicago. Receiving All, American status were: Clint Cuny, Lorry Coy, Steve Babson, Mark Anderson, Don Alexander, Randy Weber and Tony DiMarzio.
