FEW CAN APPRECIATE the time, thought, and careful analysis given to administering the Covina Union High School District by Superintendent Stanley B. Shaver, the district's administrative team and the Board of Trustees. Baldwin Park High School as a part of this dis- trict can attribute its progress to the diligence and devotion of these administrators for it is they who are responsible for the curriculum, hiring of per- sonnel financial backing recommendations to the Board of Trustees for changes and the general operation of the district according to a preconceived p an Charged with the responsibillty of seeing that students and adults in the district had the oppor tunity to further their educational goals our super intendent his staff and the Board of Trustees did everything possible to make the various schools in the district the best possible places for them in which to both work and play As the Covina Union High School District comes to a close on July T T960 we of Baldwin Park High School wish to thank Superintendent Stanley B Shaver his administrative team and the Board of Trustees for their guidance in helping us achieve our individual educational goals Ersfrrcf RAGENE A FARRlS Assistant Superintendent Curriculum and Instruction 191 f-Q -...Jen STANLEY B SHAVER District Superintendent :mms frmfmzz, ms fees HORIZONTAL ARTICULATION of curriculum and its development within the various schools and their departments was a malor part of the work of Assistant Superintendent Dr Ragene Farris This pro gram was furthered through district wide coordina tion meetings discussions held with high school with individual high school departments and their members Recruitment and selection of personnel was ad ministered by Dr Donn E Bair as Coordinator of Personnel As the district grew this phase of adminis tration became more and more important e procurement of well trained teachers Mrs Blanche Ekeroth coordinated the district counseling program and directed department and school testing surveys Final development of buildings and grounds prior to the close of the Covina High School District on July l 1960 kept Mr George Caldwell busy throughout the year Directing the purchase of school equipment and supplies throughout the year and meeting last min ute deadlines was Mr Walter L Naiman Coordin ator of Purchases l . x. 5-9 T K GORRELL Principal GUIDING AND DIRECTING the educational program of Baldwin Park High School, T. K. Gorrell as principal worked harmoniously with teachers, other school ad- ministrators, Superintendent Stanley B. Shaver, and his administrative staff. As principal he was directly responsible for all areas in the general running of the school. His policy may be characterized as The Open Door . . . students, their parents, and all staff members were free to dis- cuss their requests and suggestions, complaints or criti- cisms. Working together insured the success of Baldwin Park High School as an educational institution. Vice principal Jesse Niemela had among his varied duties the supervision and discipline of BPHS boys He conferred with parents concerning boys problems and supervised the keeping of disciplinary records for boys Vice principal Patricia Holt wisely counseled BPHS girls conferring with the parents as the need arose As girls vice principal she supervised the service point sys tem for girls and girls organizations Norman Whusenand Director of Attendance made in numerable home calls to investigate the underlying causes for school absences and supervised the compila tion of attendance records for the district office To promote friendship and to encourage and main tain the students oblectives has been the great desire of the school administration C' Sclwol G?dmuzLsfmfLon Sfrwes or Mrs Lillian Leland discusses the day s agenda with Mrs Donna Burton ,'5 4h--.- 'illuq -lg' inn- EPR Xl, f-1 Ui?
