Baldwin graduates have shared so many unique experiences that there are bound to be great memories. Who could forget Mrs. Hrutkay’s “Good morning!” and Mr. Banky’s “Thank you for a nice day”? The Purbalite’s novel announcements prompted quite a few chuckles from the students. How many times has there been a mad rush to guidance or to the nurse? “Do you have a hall pass?” was the S20 question. And who hasn’t wondered why the new track is red instead of purple? How many people have slept in or had car trou- ble, but had Mom or Dad write a “Name is late to- day because he was ill” excuse to get one of Mrs. Horbiak’s magic green late passes marked “ex- cused”? And anyone can recite the Pledge of Allegiance, but how many students, and even teachers, pretend it’s a Federal Express commercial? Everyone shares many facets of the daily school ritual and these provide each student with rich ex- periences he will take with him forever.

Prayer for the Frazzled Student God bless the frazzled students be they near or far For they are the ones who burn the midnight oil to hear “that’s a job well done.” In search of recognition, they plow through pages of notes, an abundance of books, and a plethora of papers. They dedicate their lives to the holy quest for the almighty A. And what do they receive for this special devotion? Only headaches, ulcers, and red, bleary eyes. Suffering means nothing; they are numb to pain — For they seek the goal that few will attain. So be kind to frazzled students, and remember them in your prayers. Perhaps words of comfort may console them, but do not talk for too long — there is probably a paper due. B.A.V. 15
