YOU AND OPPORTUNITIES You live in a marvelous age of opportunity. Twelve years of public education is provided. A college edu- cation is available for persons who have the desire and an ability of average or above. In addition to the formal educational opportunities, a lifetime of learning is pos- sible by listening to other people, reading many pub- lications, viewing visual mass media, and various other means. It has been written that many young people today assume the world owes them a livi ng. Whether or not this attitude is prevalent is without substantial proof. All evidence points to more and better opportunities for the person who prepares well, who is a never end- ing learner, and who will give just a little extra in his chosen job. The typical employee is said to be inter- ested only in fewer hours, large financial rewards, and quick promotions. The more important considerations involve job satisfaction, service to benefit others, and an opportunity to advance to one ' s highest expectations. Opportunities will always exist for persons who pre- pare, who give that little extra in effort, and who re- late to worthy purposes. What will you do with your present and future opportunities? C. Paul Clark High School Principal C. P. CLARK, Principal ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS— .S7( u (,(;.- J. Finest Har- rison, Dr. Warren Shepier. Seated: Raymond E. Baker, Wilbur C. Brandtonies.

DR. W. ROBERT PAYNTER. Superintendent Administration To The Class of 1963, Those of us engaged in education have a rare priv- ilege. We are in the position of working closely with our nation ' s greatest resource, its future citizens. You, the members of the Class of 1963 of Baldwin High School, are a large segment of that resource. Because each of you will be expected by your fellow citizens to make some contribution to the total welfare of all we hope you are now prepared for the next step and eligible to represent Baldwin High School as one of its graduates. Do you know that your education has only begun? Many of you may terminate your formal schooling at this point but all of you had better be planning to go on learning at every opportunity. Have you set a goal for your life? Is it one that not only challenges the best that is in you but one which also fills you with pride and spurs you on toward its realization? All of the knowledge that you have gained through your many years of study must be put to work toward some worthy end or it is as nothing. My challenge to you, then, is to go on learning and striving toward a goal that is worthy of your heritage — your family, your school, your friends. But, most of all, to thine own self be true.
