Nelson I- Norris I' 0 I L' H QUEEN OF THE FROLIC DIANE WHITE escorted by SAM RUPLE I4 One of the most beautiful and outstanding Freshman Class parties ever was held for the 1959- 60 BCHS Freshman Class Friday night, February 5, at the City Auditorium. The traditional valentine colors of red and white were used to make a dazzling and spectacular setting for the 71 couples of young people who participated. An enormous red heart in the center of the stage was flanked on each side by hand painted red cupids depicted on a white background lacily trimmed with greenery. The base of the stage was covered with white on which shiny red hearts were scattered. The master of ceremonies, Billy Walker, introduced the Cupid, who met each girl as she stepped through the heart and led her to the head of the stairs where her escort awaited. They were introduced to the audience of parents and guests. As the couples filed out, they formed a huge heart in the center of the auditorium to await the coronation. The maids of the Court made a beautiful picture as they stood on each side of the heart. First came the maid of honor, Juliet Quinley, then the court - Linda Easley, Joan D'Olive, Sandra Hall, Dorothy Hand, Delores Rider and Frances Taylor. Last of all came the Queen of Hearts, the Freshman Frolic Sweetheart, Diane White. Cupid brought out her dainty crown which was placed on her head by her escort, Sam Ruple. All types of dancing followed the grand march which was led by the sweetheart and her es- cort. The tables were beautifully decorated with red hearts and flowers. Nut cups, program booklets, and red satin heart-shaped candy boxes were at each place. The couples were entertained through the evening with dances, refreshments, and a varied floor show. Business Manager CHARLES STRONG U16 Kalcvala faff FROM THE EDITOR This year I have made every effort to induce originality, expression and spirit into your 1960 BALCOALA. In each section I have tried to pic- ture the qualities of the BCHS student. We have worked hard to produce a book that would meet the standards of our student body. In producing this book, we were brought into a closer realiza- tion of the unity of the BCHS student body and were given a more accurate concept of the SPIRIT of which we area part. I would like to thank my staff for the help they have given me, Mr. McDuffie, Harry Raske, and Morgan Little should be thanked for the pictures they took. My special thanks go to Charles Strong for the hard work that he put forth in selling ads, Mr. Daniels and the faculty for their patience and cooperation, Mrs. Laurens Jones who so willingly let me use her typewriter, and my parents for their cooperation.
