Q y . . y . ' . . PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE We of the faculty wish to take this opportunity to again thank the students of this school for the coop- eration shown this year in our Southern Association Project. A project of this kind takes team work from everyone. Our Superintendent, Board of Education, faculty, students, and all the people of our county can look back with pride to December 4, 1958, when it was announced that five of our schools had been accepted in the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. This is the first time in the history of the Southern Association that five schools in one system have been accepted at one time. Many factors go into making a good school but the most important ones are a good student body and a good faculty. We have both and it is my hope that you take the best that you have learned from home, school, church, and community and live the best life possible. 1 SE IOR CLASS PRESIDE ' MESSAGE The time has now arrived, the time all seniors of this class have long awaited. Some of us will go out into every- day life searching for new horizons, while still others will attend college to obtain a greater knowledge of the fxeld they have chosen To the seniors of Ih1S class, the years spent at B C H S have been memorable years, years never to be forgotten It IS now left up to the seniors of the future to surpass the goals which we have ach1eved, and to make our school a better school to attend Harry Caprara '.. e- ...ne-.Q Q... -X, 3, I C 1 in O Q N gm -N - 33,5 4.33.-' , ,519 . We all agree that Bald- win County High School has always had the best in its Balcoala. Perhaps that is why the job seems so big - We would hate for this year's Balcoala to be the first one in years NOT to be a success. The staff is composed of eleven student members and a faculty advisor and each one is supposed to have a certain function of the Balcoala to do himself. This isn't quite the way we composed this Balcoala, though. Everyone, even people that weren't on the staff, pitched in and did a little of everything. Thanks to this won- derful cooperation, we completed the Balcoala of l959 right on schedule. Jackie Brannan, Pat Page, and Ercel Friel did more work than you can imagine - typing and pasting and cutting hundreds of pictures. Bill Johnson did his usual excellent job as photographer, as did Harry Raske in Fairhope. Roland McNeely gets a special thanks for all the help he gave us with pictures. A school yearbook just wouldn't be without pictures, and these three Editor-in-Chief ANN BLACKBURN gentlemen gave us the best. BUSUISSS Maflagel' Photographer Assistant Editor JACK COWSER BILL JOHNSON ERCEL FRIEL ,swf 't HY' 1 QQYTFMDQ ki Literary EdiIOr Assistant Literary Editor Advisor PAT PAGE JACKIE BRANNAN WILFORD NEALEY Jack Cowser did a fine job with the business end of this production, and Margaret Feulner conldn't have done better as Sales Manager. Mr. Nealey, Coy Walker, Albert McMillan, and Lowell Hoffman were a lot of help, acting as Advisor, Publicity Editor, Sports Editor, and Art Editor, respectively. Mr. Daniels proved to be a very patient person. You would almost have to have a lot of patience to put up with the many questions we asked and the many phone calls we made flong distance! ! ly. This Balcoala couldn't have been published without the help of all these people, and I owe them my deepest thanks for a job well done. THE BALCOALA OF 1959 - It's all yours. We sincerely hope you enjoy it. Sales Manager Sports Editor Art Editor Publicity Editor MARGARET FEULNER ALBERT MCMILLAN LOWELL HOFFMAN COY WALKER R'- sz B.C. H.S.
