F, VV. Con- We J t vention in Miami, Florida, in August. They were described as having marched with well drilled precision and were shown in two cuts in the leading morning newspaper. Returning from Miami, they paraded at Ccala, Florida. lt will be a long time before that trip is tor- gotten. There are sixty members and eight major- ettes directed by their popular leader, George Bootsie Noonan. With their snappy drum beat and greatly improved music, they pa- raded at all ten ot our lootball games. ln addition to these performances the band Georqe Bootsie Noonan-Director participgted in Several Trade Day parades' an Armistice Day parade, and Christmas pa- rades in Bay Minette and Foley. February brought practice, practice, and more practice all had to be ready lor Mardi Gras. Finally the event arrived, and they marched in nine parades. Gt course they were called on to play tor chapel programs, PTA meetings, and May Day. A highlight of the band's musical achievement was the excellent concert given in the late spring. They attended the County Music Festival at Robertsdale. ln lune they will march in the State V. F. Vtf. Convention parade. Godwin, Presley, Cooper, Bobbie McDill, Postma, Thompson Icimes, Mashburn. MISS BCHS DANCE In order that certain delegates be sent to the State Convention, the club sponsored the Miss BCHS Dance on Ian- uary 21. Due to the fact that everyone had a good time, the dance was both very successful and profitable to the club. BETA INITIATION The Beta initiates were called idiots instead of scholars when they dressed up in their worst to become members of the club. They enjoyed being hum- ble servants of the old members and never complained when they were given little tasks to perform. 0800 Jim. The beautiful day afforded many picturesque scenes for the photographers, and many of the pictures were entered in the Camera Club Contest. Many of the camera fans took boat rides to capture the scenery. Miss Leonard showed the photographers many in- teresting ways to take trick pictures, but no one could get her to ride in the boats. Everyone enjoyed the picnic supper and the get-together which concluded the evening. And with only one accident, Ann Bullington skinning her knee, the club managed to get everyone back to Bay Minette in good condition. lst Prize DREAM HOUSE Perry Foster Sum 11111 Presldent Fra Cldy Postrun Vrce Presrdeht Ulorro Bur Secretory ond Treosurer Chorlott Von Dyk Sponsor M135 Ltlltorr Leohorcl fx' THE AIM of th Sctertce Lluo rs to Create mterest 1'1 tie held ot scrertoe Gmonq Luqln School Students Freddy Postma Glorxa Burch and Charlotte Van Dyke Th Scrertge Cluh hoe enoyed cr yeor tlled wrth pleo ur work FUN heod oches They Cl hrtefl th rr old clothe-2 cmd went OH or tuspecttou tour through the New Port lhdustrre They hove worked hord tovxord the two prore ts hyclroqehcrtrorr ond blood typmq whrch they ore erttermq ot A oborr o luruor Acorderuy ot 5 lertce Qoovert t1or1 lohmty Q rrwoy mort so ond Place or the pooer he preeerrted to AIAS lost yeor cmd Glorro Burch wort frret oloce th S yeor Baqqett Brycrs Burch Deer Heaton aye Iordun McDav1d McDxll McElhcmey Postma Held Van Dyke Wes! - 5 . , ' - ,- ,f O C t - , fx. - . t Q , , , , , . , , , . t , I A T- ' , . . . Every last man on the precedinq year's starting line up, with one exception, was gone. What's more they faced the touqhest schedule of recent years. What a task faced Coaches Spear and Williams! From a mass of inexperienced boys they must mold a teame- and they didg but not just a team, they made a winning team. The season opened at Sim- mons Field. Each spectator came with a question in his mind: from the many diffi- jo Lball Coaches Pinky Williams and Stooqe Spear Coach Spear Grimes Cannon Coots Levoy Presley Coone Davis Blackmon Pipkins culties, what sort of tean, would emerqe? And each spectator was aiven reassur ance by the rousing 36-E5 vit' tory won by the Tigers. Qff to a flyina start, they won all but one of the next five qames, then fell into a disheartening losinq streak which lasted until the final qame. Then, malcinq a maa- nificent comeback, they beat the hiqhly touted, previously unbeaten Atmore team. This victory doesn't mean so much to an outsider, but in Bay Minette, when speakinq of an event they say, that was the year we beat At- more or that was the year Atmore won.
