The Councils main job is to maintain order at assemblies and rallies. Any boy who wishes to join the Boys' Coun- cil must meet the grade requirements, and be recommended by a faculty member. He then re- ceives a petition which must be signed by his reg. teacher, his counselor, the principal, the dean of boys, and three Boys' Council members. A meeting is then held at which new members are voted in. In the fall, the Boys' Council supervised at the Football Pageant. The fall ofhcers were president, Mike XVa1sh: vice-president, Al Malatesta: and secretaryetreas- urer, Richard Allen. In the spring the Boys' Council made the Block B boys honorary members, which meant that the block organization supervised at assem- blies and rallies also. The Boys' Council took part in Business-Education Day, acting as guides to the visitors. A. office and those on the Board ol' Directors are made honorary members of this organization. The Girls' Council consisted of approximately till members this spring. The members were either elected, or selected from the many clubs and de- partments in the school. S..-X. officers and class officers are also on the Council as a result of their willingness to give service to the school. The Cou'ncil's job is to usher at assemblies and rallies, act as hostesses. and guide parents of new students around the school. In order to qualify lor acceptance into the Girls' Council, a girl must have given one year of service previous to the recommendation, main- tain a B average in scholarship and an Ii or S average in citizenship, and must show evidence ol initiative and desire to serve Balboa. lfVhen a girl has filled the above requirements, she can proudly don the blue and gold hat which signilies her achievement.
