The FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT instructed stu- dents in Latin, French, German, and Spanish. The college preparatory classes emphasized language structure, and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking. The modern language lab with individual booths equipped with ear- phones and tape recorders proved valuable in developing fluency in speech and accuracy in pronunciation. Through reading of foreign literature students gained an insight of foreign cultures and an appreciation of the literary achieve- ments of foreign writers. Students with talent and interest in music were guided in their studies by members of the MUSIC DEPARTMENT. Teachers endeavored to enlarge students' knowledge, to help fulfill musical potential, and to further understanding and appreciation of the lively art. Constant practice and continued public performances developed discipline and skill. Students in both instrumental groups and vocal groups combined their talents to present the musical comedy The Music Man. Mr. Victor Brache Ceramics, Art Dept. Chmn.
