Amidst a ring of campus buildings, ELM GROVE provided a sanctuary tor the hastled, hungry student, With con- tinual threats, pressures and reminders, Bakersfield High School students af- firmed their campus pride by improving the appearance of Elm Grove. Focal point of physical activity, the GYM was the site ot health and physical education classes, basketball games, and wrestling matcnes. Elm Grove, traditional hub of social activity, reflected the seasons ofthe year for students. .hit Students worked hard to keep the Quad clean because campus pride was foremost in their minds. The STUDENT STORE, managed by lerry Smith under the supervision of Mr. Dennis, provided a convenient place for students to purchase school supplies inexpensively, An assortment of soft drinks, sandwiches, and candy could be purchased before school, during lunch, and after school. The QUAD, centrally located on cam- pus, served as a congregating place for students during their noon hours. .,.s!lh. XYUNNT

vund the campu 6uil ing . WARREN HALL was the hub of the sprawling Bakersfield High campus, the center of English, foreign language, mathematics, and business education classes. Here, throughout a school day, surged the aspiring BHS students, al- ways mindful of their respective careers. The new addition to our wheel of ac- tivity was SPINDT HALL, dedicated by the class of 1962, honoring our former principal, H. A. Spindl. ound 4 zlarie ty of locativrw. beautiful apartment of Ludden Hall was the center of activity for homemakinq students, 5 E , rx AqAx,H Besides serving the students nutritious lunches every day, the CAFETERIA was used for dances, meetings, and banquets. Through the doors of the CAFETERIA students ciamored to get their share of food and fun. During the course of the year the Cafeteria was also used for many extra activities. LUDDEN HALL was the center ot activ- ity for those talented qirls interested in the vocation ot Home Economics. Here they learned the skills vitai to their fu-- tures as homemakers. Future homemakers daily pursued their interests of sewing, cooking, and cfher homemaking skills in Ludden Hall.
