In Recognition: Leslie W. Hedge A RESOLUTION SUBMITTED TO THE STUDENT GOVERNING BODY, THE EXECUTIVE BOARD, FOR THE PURPOSE OF HONORING PRINCIPAL L. W. HEDGE BY DECLARING FEBRUARY 27, 1962, AS LES HEDGE DAY ON THE BAKERSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS. 1. Whereas, L. W. Hedge has most ably served as principal of this large comprehensive high school over a period of twenty-two years, and 2. Whereas, he has developed a staff that is recognized for its ability and diverse talents, and 3. Whereas, he is recognized on this campus as one who has worked actively and continuously in all the varied phases of the school program, and 4. Whereas, his work as principal has brought recognition to the school and community through surveys, and, in particular, the Conant study, and 5. Whereas, his years as principal have represented an outstanding period of service and leadership on the campus and over the state, and 6. Whereas, he has offered valuable direction both in state and national capacities through the presidency of California Association of Secondary School Administrators, the board of directors of National Association Secondary School Principals, and the development of a state-wide accreditation program, and 7. Whereas, during his stewardship Bakersfield High School has gone through many trying periods including a war and an earthquake with the resultant problems and solutions pertaining to campus morale, student overload, and plant rebuilding, and 8. Whereas, he has ably served his community through added responsibilities in civic groups, such as the Young Men's Christian Association, Rotary, and others, and 9. Whereas, Bakersfield High School has attained highest stature among the high schools of California and the nation in the areas of scholarship, curriculum development, and student activities, and IO. Whereas, he has announced his resignation as principal of Bakersfield High School on or about March l, 1962.
