Studen M pa Aed lwur 0 In addition to serving BHS students daily lunches, the CAFETERIA was used for dances, meetings for the community and school, banquets, and a study hall. After a busy morning, students gath- ered in the CAFETERIA fourth and fifth periods for lunch and friendly aossip. They also enjoyed the many dances and banquets that took place in this buildinq. Bakersfield High School qraduates will always remember WARREN HALL as a focal point of school activity. Here students took vocational or college pre- paratory courses. Students broadened their intelligence in the rooms of WARREN HALL. ELM GROVE provided a location for student election polls, noon sales, and lunching out-of-doors. Another popular lunch spot, the QUAD, was an ideal place for dances and pep rallies. The STUDENT STORE, open before and after school and during the noon hours, was a convenient place for students to buy snacks and school supplies.

l'0I6 in ac demic li e 45195. The Bakersfield High School ME- CHANICAL ARTS BUILDING had a new face this year. Although changed in outer appearance the building offered students the same excellent facilities. The building contained equipment de- signed to give the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out personal and vocational tasks. Classes ranging from mechanical drawing to auto mechanics were held in the Mechanical Arts Build- ing. The newly remodeled Science Buildin provided ultra- modern classrooms for scienti?ic study. Classes for students with engineering ability were held in the INDUSTRIAL ARTS BUILDING. Students strolled the hall of newly rebuilt Science Building.

wo:-le and an vu camp A. ,-,ly ,ew 1 as c .mg 2 E :livin-tae if lf' rw' After classes and during the lunch hours, students socialized in the QUAD and boughtsnrigagary items in the STUDENT :niet HARVEY AUDITORIUM, which was the center of all cul- tural activities, also housied music, debate and drama c asses. LUDDEN HALL was familiar to all stu- dents taking home economics and child care courses. This modern building made learning easier because of its up- to-date sewing cmd cooking equipment. Located next to Ludden Hall was the GYMNASIUM where BHS students took daily classes in physical education and hygiene. A variety of activities from regular physical education classes to exciting basketball games and wrestling matches took place inthe BHS GYMNASIUM
