In our student hody activities wc have again assumed athletic leadership in the San Joaquin valleyg eoutirmed our own lead in foren- sic activities, and improved our already outstand- ing position in publications, music, dramatics and other activities. Scholastically, we are embarking on a program ot' study improvcment that should mean a great deal to our students in the next few years. NVEST Board of Trustees ERY little is known of the Board of Trustees what they do, et celera, so its work is not as fully appreciated as il could hc. llowever. it is the hoard to which this high school should he thankful for many things which it unfortunately takes for granted. One thing in particular. to which students seldom give more than a passing thought, is the shruhhery ahout the school. It is not every school to which appearance is given so much attention. The students of this high school have every reason to he proud of their school, as it is one of the most well-kept schools in the slate. This year a new huilding was started. This huilding was originally intended to he an 2llltlll0I'llllll, hut on the condemnation of the old Commercial Building, it was decided to place all commercial classes in the would-he auditorium. ln 1895, one huilding comprised the Kern County Union lligh School campus. In 1931 there are thirteen huildings, excluding the new huilding and the stadium. Perhaps this gives some idea of how the hoard has heen working. It takes quantities of time to plan a hudget for a huilding. It is hoped that after reading this page. the students will appre- ciate the efforts of the hoard, and give it their heartiest co-operation. Members of this year's hoard are: T. N. Harvey, chairmang Mar- vin J. Davis, clerkg VV. IS. liohh, H. D. XVest and A. D. M. Usborne. '

DAYY The Student Body Executive Committee HH success of the fourth annual Student Body Dance was only the beginning of the successful year that has just ended with great honor for the 1933-34 executive coimnittee. This success was due not only to the willing co-operation of each member but also to the help and aid of their advisor, Mr. Davy. In order that the Oracle might be published this year, the stu- dent body held their first Student Body Carnival. All the important clubs, classes and organizations of the school participated and helped to make this carnival a splendid example for inspiring young execu- tives who might wish to carry out this idea in the future. Each club paid the student body' all their profits up to len dollars and twenty- iive per cent of their protits over ten dollars. Special awards go to the committees on publications because ol' the splendid way in which they have edited both the Blue and NVhile and the 0racle. They received lll0I'0 applause for the originality and success of their annual Publication Dance. Because we feel that the executive colnlnitlee of H133-3-I has done everything possible in giving us a year of pleasant activities, we unite in wishing that their success may continue as future otllcers.
