On March 13, 1950 the Board of Trustees authorized the establishment of Q separate campus for the college. A year later a 153 acre site was purchased. Cornerstone ceremonies for the campus we know today were conducted on April 30, 1955, in connec- tion with Public Schools Week activities. F u11- time instruction began April 2, 1956. The Kern Joint Junior College District became Ct sepa- rate legal entity on July 1, 1961 via c1 special election. Present Board members, who are elected by the citizens of the District, c:11 hold college degrees and are highly respected business and professional men in the community. 11 ' mmu nu
