It is the year 1993 and Baker, Montana has grown to a thriving metropolis of 15,000 with a McDonalds. As the graduating class of 1983 gathers for their 10 year reunion, we stop in at Bev’s Bar and Grill. Along with her favorite customers Doug Goerndt and Scott Schaefer, we see many faces from the past and hear of many also. Driving into town are Doug Kusler and Orville Madler. After coaching a great season at UCLA they decided to relax in Baker, but see many changes. They see billboards advertising Domagala’s Fast Lane Grocery Service and Winnie Ferrells’ Pie and Pastry Shop. The billboards are designed by the newest member of the profession, Robynn Enos. Lyn Wolenetz is seen driving into town in her fiashy Z28 wearing her 1993 Miss America crown. She is followed by Paula Peplow in a Rolls Royce, who is escorted by Dudley Moore. Paula had won a date with Dudley after winning the Tallest Woman of the Year Contest in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following them in her new custom combine is Pam Bremer, new owner of K P’s Wheat Cutting Service. | j g s g | ; £; „ V' Coming in from the east is Tammy Woodsend, who just completed a 2-year run of “42nd Street” in New York City. With Tammy is Debbie Hetland, her stage manager. On their way to Baker they picked up Max Losing, who just finished the Boston Marathon, becoming the fastest woman ever to win the race. Next we see a plane overhead. It must be Kevin Fleckenstein in his private plane. He’s just flying from Tahiti after an important business meeting with his secretary Val Losing. Kenny Wolenetz drives up to meet him in his new Rolls Royce. Kenny has just taken over South fork. As they leave the airport Henry Hastig rides by on his latest Kawasaki. He designs motorcycles that go on land, air and sea. As they drive through town they see Tom Bruha’s new trucking company. He just sold 5 new Coors trucks to Tracy Rustad, who is the new manager of Coors Light Co., and is supplying free refresh- ments for the “83” class reunion. Several new businesses have sprung up in town. Kami Stadel, marketing a new line of cosmetics, just opened a factory on the edge of town. Near her factory is Lisa Prokop’s new jeans studio. Her designed jeans are now being worn by internationally famous people. Two of her most valued customers are Carol Beebe, who buys for all the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders of which she is now the head cheerleader, and Kandi Varner, who now owns her own High Heel Slipper Company in Billings, Montana. Kandi is engaged to Scott Tuggle, who is head football coach for the newly formed Eastern Montana University Yellow Jackets. Leilani Hodges has just opened a new Holiday Hodge with a swimming pool and a club with electronic music. Here we see punk-rocker Kelly Mahon giving dance lessons to some of the local housewives-Kathy Bridgeford, Jill Brockel and Karla Helfrich. Near Leilani’s new business is Jeff Hadley’s Children’s Gym Center where the mothers can drop off their kids before they go for their dance lessons. Driving into the Holiday Hodge we see Janice Stoddard just checking in from Africa, where she is a veterinarian for untamed animals. Right behind her is Kathy McGonigal checking in with her winning Scobey Spartans who will play a rival game with the new up-coming Baker Spartans, coached by Karla Helfrich. Kay Dixon is there to greet them with her class of 1st graders from Lincoln School, who happened 28

to be on a field trip across the street at Baker Hospital. There they met Dawn Williams, the new dentist and oral surgeon. Williams just finished capping Gerard Meschke’s teeth after he was hit by a homerun slammer while playing for the LA Dodgers. As dusk softens the evening and lets the ranchers off for a night, Steve Koenig, owner of a new Co- op in Ludlow, S.D. has just parked in front of Bev’s. Todd Meccage heads to town from his cattle ranch and with him is JoAnna Halmans, the new Secretary of Agriculture. Todd finished testing his land for new minerals. Right behind him is Rochelle Hurlbert, owner of Roach’s Racers and President of the Montana Racing Association. With her is top trainer Pete Rising. Their horse, “Number 83”, just won the Belmont Stakes. A few people who are living out of the country will not make it to town. Shelly Barefoot works with her husband on an oilrig in Saudi Arabia. They just had their 10th child. Brenda Schueler is in Jamaica on a mission and will not be returning for a year. Julie Bruha is in Canada preparing for the Olympics along with Jim Stanton, who plans to win the decathalon and do television commercials. Joe Zacher is on a world tour in Europe. By some miracle he is playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Scott Graham, trying to sell new John Deer tractors to the government in Nigeria, has been kidnapped. Now as the evening progresses, Don Carlson, U.S. Attorney General, rushes in with Darlene Delcamp, who is a famous criminal lawyer. They had just won a billion dollar lawsuit for Jim O’Connor, head of O’Connor Inc. He will now farm the entire south-eastern corner of Montana. Providing the musical entertainment for the evening is Tim Vest, who is now President of Sony Sorporation. He has just donated a new stereo system to Baker High School. Ken Kenitzer, Public Relations Director for Sunkist, has donated new pop machines for each building. Kent Ketterling now owns Universal Athletics and has just donated new weight-lifting equipment. And to help the school district further, Keith Carver just struck oil behind the school greenhouse. The next day they tour the latest addition to the high school. Who should we see greeting the students from the office but our efficient secretary, Donna O’Connor. The construction of the new building was completed by Anita Bowland, now head of Bowland’s Lumber and Construction. As we head down the hall, we see Miss Louise Braun in her new computer center, teaching the seniors of 1993. She has just designed a program for CPA Kathy Botsford, who works to bring down the National deficit for the President of the United States. Next door to Miss Braun we see Miss Teri Dilworth, a math professor from Harvard, visiting her father Mr. “D”. Natalie Ferrel, school librarian, is heard speaking to some students. As we get to the new auditorium, Stacey Neary is performing a comedy routine for the student body, and who should appear at that special moment but a former drama student, Sharon Donaldson, now a famous reporter for the Anchor A-R-M-Y News. As the school bells ring and students are released, we see them racing for their cars and heading for that ever-popular place, the 4-Seasons, which is now owned and operated by Julie Kono. With the busses pulling away from the curb we see Kari Irgens driving the new Marmath School Busline, “Irgen’s Stream Lines”. As the reunion ends, the former classmates stop at one of Sheryl Zacher’s chain of service stations, now known as Zach’s Petroleum Centers. They all leave town looking forward to another ten years. 29
