We started the season slowly, but by mid-season we began to play some very competitive basketball. In that stretch we won two games and played some fine ball in a losing effort in five other games. It began to look like we might play the role of a spoiler by tournament time, but the experience of the other teams began to take its toll on the young Spartan team as we entered the final weeks of the season. In the tournament the Spartans played inspiring basketball even though they lost their first two games. The young Spartan team showed great hustle, desire, and determination to win. If this attitude prevails through the summer and into next fall, the Spartans, will be a force to be reckoned with. Record - 3 wins 14 losses

J.V.’s Look To Future Kneeling: Kim Ketterling, Gayle Bums. Summary The tally of games won and lost this season is definitely not an indication of future seasons from these girls. Though there were four more losses than wins, the J.V. 's improved a great deal over last year. They have a tremendous amount of potential which needs to be and will be developed. The J.V.'s strong points are defense, hustle, and attitude. The girls ran the full court press excellently and hustled all the time, both on offense and defense. It was not a winning season but the girls continued to work hard and had a good attitude. Some of the J.V. 's will be playing varsity ball next year, but with some fine freshmen and the returning J.V.'s, a strong and promising season is in the making for next basketball season. All the girls deserve special awards, but only these three are given each year: Most Improved-Marcie Celander Best Defensive-Doreen Losing Hustle Award-Sandy Engesser
