Commencement Exercises for the Class of 1977 were held in the Baker High School Gym on Wednesday, May 18. The Processional and Recessional were played by the Baker High School Band. Reverend Donald Cordineer gave the Invocation and Benediction. On this and the following two pages are some scenes and thoughts on the 1977 Graduation. To The Right, The Class of 1977 is marching in. Bottom Left: Vick; Schell delivering her Salutatory Address, in which she gave a history of the class from K-12 and thanks to parents, teachers, friends, and God for helping them reach this point in our life. Bottom Middle: Lori Stevenson, Valedictorian, giving her speech. She asked the audience to reflect on this hour, expect much from ourselves, and give thanks to Jesus Christ for all of our success. Vance Johnson, Senior Class President, responds for Seniors after his father, Mr. Llewell Johnson, Jr., had given the wel- come . John Hecker, Class Sponsor, introducing the Seniors during the banquet. He was followed by Evelyn Perry, Sponsor, who gave a Toast the Seniors. The Parent-Senior Banquet was held in the Catholic Church Social Hall. Mrs. Julie LaCross served as toastperson. Reverend Robert Boutwell, Community Church gave the blessing. Reverend Chester Reich, Lakeview Baptist Church gave the bene- diction. 1977 Parent-Senior Banquet The Class Will being read by Larkin Eilek and Shane Gundlach. The Prophecy was given by Ann Marie Miller and Lloyd Schell. Terry Steen, Kenton Reich, Mark Boutwell, and Wincel Kenitzer pro- vided the entertainment at the banquet. A farewell to our seniors was given by Bob Lawson, High School Vice Principal. € The parents and seniors joined together in singing I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing accompanied by Mariann Callen.

Mr. Cliff Harmala, Superintendent of Glendive Schools, called on the graduating seniors to think on some prac- tical considerations in his Commencement Address en- titled What Should I Expect. Some of them were: Be temperate in your habits, be careful in your choice of companions, choose vocation wisely, as parents spend time with children, be responsi- ble for your own actions--profit by other's mistakes. He also added that the government is interferring more and more in our lives; we are not as free as we once were; we are more confined after we receivedthe diploma. His final admonition was: go to church, read the Scriptures, pray. What man has done, you, too, can do. Motto: “Of a Good Beginning,. The Baker High School Band, under the direc- tion of Mr. Roy Wood, played Sound of Phila- delphia prior to the presentation of diplomas and awards. 23
