Superintendent's Message We, the Class of 1971 wish to thank the School Board for the many hours that they put in to keep our school running. Though their efforts sometimes go unrecognized, we know that they have made it possible for us to complete one step in our life's journey. Congratulations to the Class of 1971, Baker High School, on your graduation. May I commend you for your initia- tive, efforts, and preserverance in achieving this mark of excellence. Now that you have accomplished this important phase of life you will be commencing to enter the responsibility filled period of life. Your life's work and sen-ice to your family, to mankind, and to Our Country will be deter- mined by one person - - you. I sincerely wish for each one of you, Class of 1971, a happy, successful, and richly, rewarding life. D, M. Hartwick Superintendent School Board

Administration Mr. Bruggeman, Mrs. Murphy, Mr. Tugg'e My congratulations to the Class of '71. You have the unique distinction of being the first class to graduate from high school knowing that in a short time you will be eligible to vote in national elections and a year later in state elections, as well as acquiring all the privileges of citizenship by the time you are nineteen years of age. How are you going to use this new privilege? Will you use it as a weapon to destroy effective leadership because of a whim? Will you use it as a threat to secure what you want? OR, will you bring to your new dignity a serious, informed yet humble point of view? This is the kind of new voter we need and we hope Baker High School has giv- en you some of the tools you will need to become this kind of citizen. You have the potential and the power. May you use it wisely! L. Fredrick Bruggeman Principal First Row: Ashley Stanhope, Orville Stevens, Doug Barone, Carol Bechtold, Art Koenig, Alfred Brown. Next Row: Mr. Hartwick, Mr. Vanderpan, Russell Culver, Charles Woodsend, Charles Madler, Tom Overton, Mr. Bruggeman.
