SUPERINTENDENT A yearbook justifies itself in being a permanent record of a certain memorable period in our lives. Later on we may look at it again and remember. It is a compilation of events in a form which repre- sents our school, with at least enough completeness to suggest the rest. It brings to our attention how very wide the range of activity our school has. It sharpens the reali- zation that it is impossible for each of us to participate in everything. As we take this book in retrospect at the year we have just spent, those things in which we have personally participated will bring us the richest memories, and those students who have participated in the most, will find the fullest meaning in this book. This has been a very satisfying year, I am sure, for all of us. Few persons, except those who are on the Spartan Staff realize all the work that goes into the pro- duction of our annual. I extend my compliments to Mr. Bender, yearbook advisor, his student staff and our fine student body for a task well done. PRINCIPAL A cartoon may be a fine teaching aid . . . it picto- rially gets to the heart of a situation. I am reminded of one which showed a woman standing in a kitchen piled high with unwashed dishes, saying, I hate washing dishes so I let them accumulate. Someday it’s going to be a problem. How many of us are guilty of doing just that . . . letting something accumulate until it becomes a prob- lem? This often applies to daily school work. At the end of the six weeks we try frantically to get enough dishes washed” to carry us through. However, this cartoon has a more farreaching impli- cation. 1 am thinking of the little faults that we allow to pile up. Faults like using poor English, being dis- courteous, cheating a little, disrespect of private and pub- lic property, etc. These faults, if continued unchecked, settle into bad habits. I admonish you, don't let your faults pile up until they become a problem that you will have to face some day ... a problem which may re- quire a high payment in time, money, and reputation.
