My CLASS HISTORY In 1949, thirty mothers dragged thirty nose-dripping young children to school at the old East Side School. Here we were to dwell for six long years under a great number of teachersf?J. We were the last class not to benefit from the advantages of the new South Side School. As we advanced into Junior High, we were placed under the tutorship of Miss Edwina Eichenberger. Our class was the last class she taught before retiring. In the Spring of 1957, after a year under Mr. Gaustad, 45 proud students received their diplomas and were promoted to High School. In our Freshman year we numbered sixty-four and soon learned how green we were. Luana Wagner was elected President, Frankie Allen, Vice-Presidentg Jean Chesmore, Sec.-Treasurerg Warren Wenz, Class Historian. We, with the Sophomores, presented three one-act plays, Weather or No, Bright is Tomorrow, and A Night in the Country. Fifty-two was our number as we became Sophomores. We were now more relaxed and ready to take our revenge on the Freshmen. Our officers were Thomas Bechtold, Presidentg John Fried, Vice-President, Leilani Naples, Secretary, Giles Henderson, Treasurer. This was a mighty year for the whole school as Baker won the Eastern Divisional Tournament for the first time. As we became Juniors, we also became upperclassmen with the responsibilities of upperclassmen. We gained our first recognition when Molly Agler was chosen Football Queen during Football Day Festivities. Leilani Naples was elected President, Leo Brockel Vice-Presidentg Marilyn Rustad, Secretary, Molly Agler, Treasurer. Our Junior Class play, Boarding House Reach --a three-act comedy, was a huge success. We were directed by Mr. Gaustad. Our Junior Prom was one of the best and was fun for all. Our Senior year was full of exciting events and went much too fast for us. Our of- ficers were Carmen Thomas, Presidentg Robert Yokley, Vice-Presidentg Bill Simmons, Secretaryg Warren Wenz, Treasurer. On Football Day Leilani Naples was elected Foot- ball Queen and our float won first prize. Our Senior Class play, Terror in the Suburbs --a three-act mystery, was directed by Tom McGonigal and went over big. We were honored by the Juniors at their annual Prom. The weeks flew until 42 received our diplomas at commencement. Of those who started the first grade 12 are still together. They are Evonne Afrank, Jean Chesmore, Delila Fried, Mary Lou Griffith, Clayton Keech, Leilani Naples, Kay Rediske, Bill Stadel, James Stark, Carmen Thomas, Warren Wenz, and Robert Yokley. We are the last class to graduate from the old High School. This means the passing of many memories of which we are glad we were a part, Our best wishes go to the students in school and to all future students. Our deepest appreciation goes to the many wonderful teachers who were kind enough to stand by us throughout our school years. Q Q D9 ies E CLASS PROPHECY This is a formal report submitted by a Congressional Subcommittee on Internal Affairs consisting of Bill Simmons, chairman, Leo Brocke, Bill Stadel, Dorothy Wyrick, and Berneice Huether. The committee has recently returned from a demonstration given by Professor C. Arthur Linden and his attractive assistant, Miss Mary Carmen Thomas. The young genius has astounded the scientific world with his discovery of a new miracle drug which allows an individual to look into the future of any person in his acquaintance. Miss Thomas volunteered to be treated, and the following is a report of her conversation. I see Mary Lou G. was finally cured of always being late when her husband spanked her for being tardy for their wedding. Alice A. is still happily married and now has eleven children, all girls. Bee G. is now following the steps of the immortal Jane Mans- field and has starred in 17 movies. Well, Lonnie N. has advanced from Baker's Football Queen to the Miss U.S.S.R. title. Delila F. has, with her excellent cooking, finally reached a man's heart by way of his stomach. Warren W. is now Charlie Ballou's son-in- law and is running for City Dog Catcher. Jean C. went East to find her success--to Marmath. Vicky G. has become a Congresswoman and is Parliamentarian for our State Legislature. Bonnie H. is a member of the F.B.I. women's force and is supporting her husband Roger Fried, who is janitor at the State Pen. Phyllis A. and Evonne A. are old maid country school teachers. Darling Joyce B. has dedicated her life to the perservation of dumb animals--she keeps house for her brother Darold. Carlene C. waited until she was 36 before she got married the first time, but by the time she was 40 she had a collection of 13 diamond rings. Janelle D. is still living in dear old Baker with dear old Eddie. Doris S. is working as a medical technician for an Ekalaka veterinarian. Ronald W. is using his architectural skills in designing a home for his Louisiana Dream Girl. Sam H. has stepped on 18 banana peels and has spent the last 9 years with his leg in a cast. Kay R. is married to a sheep herder and has to live in a tent all the time. Handsome John F. is storming the country with that charming voice and his swivel hips. Killer Dale R. is in the County Hospital having his cauliflower ears treated. Clayton K. has just been voted the man most likely to succeed Charley Ballou. Harry T. is working as a body guard for Tuesday Weld. Jim S. finally got tired of shaving and now has grown a beard and become a professional revolutionist in Cuba. Lynn K. is living up to his name and will be rated quite high on the F.B.I.'s top ten. Tom B. is still hunting wild turkeys but he hasn't seen one yet. However, he sure picked a pigeon in Diane. Melvin D. and Richard L. finally gave up their hopes of being sheep herders, and now are getting their kicks as sparing partners for the heavy weight champion. Jim F. was looking at the moon through the bottom of a bottle one night, and became so enticed, that he has now taken up astronomy. Doris R. and Judy L. have gone to the bright lights of New York City to seek their fortunes. Tom O. is designing rockers-- for a toy manufacturer. Bob Y. is a confirmed bachelor and is pilot of the plane that flys girls athletic teams to their games. Miss Thomas continued, As for this committee, Bill Simmons, Leo B., Bill Stadel, Dorthy W., and Berniece H., if they try to pan off what I have just said as the truth, I prophesy that they will spend the rest of their lives in the lunnie bin.
