Dedication We, the Seniors of 1960, -respectfully dedicate our 1960 Spartan to Mr. Leonard Haskell who for 13 years dedicated his life to the education of Baker youth. The energy, devotion, and perseverence which characterized his teaching reflected great credit upon himself and Baker High School. His memory will remain in our hearts forever. 2

WORDS TO LIVE BY The best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your arm Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most impor- tant You won't find many success rules that will work unless you do' The more a man finds fault, the more proof that he hasn't done anything worth while himself It is better to tell the truth and run, than to lie and get caught in the act The person who has learned to live with himself has learned to live with others A good name is seldom regained when character is gone, all is gone, and one of the richest jewels of life is lost forever L. W. l-leftie Superintendent of Baker Schools B.A., Peru State Teachers College M.A., University of Nebraska Suppose each day we were given 1,440 bright new silver dollars to do with as we pleased. We could spend them, do good with them, invest in something now which would help us in the future, or waste them, but we had to use them up each day and could not save them as such for the future. It so happens that each day we are given something just as new and even more valuable than the silver dollars . . . 1,440 minutes that have never been used before, to do with as we please. How we use these precious minutes each day determines our present and our future. Like dollars we can use them to help and bring cheer to other people, we can invest them now to pre- pare us for our future vocation, we can use them to develop strong bodies and fruitful minds, or we can fritter them away in useless pastimes. Why not make up our minds now, before another minute is gone forever, as to how we can best use this wonderful gift given us each day? We cannot save it, but how we spend it may mean the difference between impoverished minds and bodies content to drift along, or an inspired and enlightened' future not only for ourselves but for our country.
