PROPHEO In the year of our Lord 2000, we, the prophecy committee of '57’ travel in our gold Cadillac on moonbeams to all the planets. Our first stop is at Mercury. There we see Howard Corey and Gloria Steen pestering annual committees in the school where Howard is teaching ad- vanced chemistry and Gloria is teaching speed writing the Powell style. Next we go to another spot on Mercury and find Jean Morton shaking up malts for her grandchildren. Alfred Grensteiner, her husband, is an oil tycoon, who just struck oil for the tenth time. On our next stop at Pluto we find that Ivan Korneychuck has just arrived and is setting up a Conoco Gas Station. We also find Sally Griffith, the oldest cheerleader in the University of Pluto. Traveling to another part of Pluto we find Carol Rose, the second Florence Nightingale operating a hospital for all injured space men, while her husband, Arlee Fried is a mechanic repairing space ships. From Pluto we go to Mars and find Curtis Huether running the Mars Red Owl Store. Ramona Bachtold suddenly decides she wants to leave us to become head sales clerk in Curtis's store. As we travel further into Mars we find Pat O'Neill ( and Tessie Bruha, his wife) running a gambling Casino and Ferdella Carlson and June Bruce are his dancing girls. In the gambling Casino we find Carren Newell, the switchboard operator putting in a long distance telephone call from Mars to Neptune. As we left Mars and were halfway to Venus we saw a little cafe and stopped and who did we find but Betty Jean Griffith serving coffee and hot rolls. When we reached Venus who should we see but John Everson now a famous skid row character. As we travel around on Venus we see Jerry Gonsioroski who just received a whole squadron of flying saucers and is trying one out. Barbara Gaustad and Roy Griffith are getting ready to leave for a honey- moon to the moon. Now we are on Jupiter and we see Eddie Helgeson trying to form a women’s basketball team. He’s already got Florence Sheehan, Patsy Brayton, and Anna Wyrick persuaded to join. We get to Neptune and find Stella Koenig selling TV sets to all the space people. As we tour the University of Neptune we find Jim Hurley, Calvin Newell and Larry Wiseman playing football on the Varsity team. As we go to Earth we find Rena Desper at Ekalaka with Noreen Kohler as her maid. Now we go back home to the moon to our respective jobs (Fern Noftsker, a commercial teacher at the Moon University, Florence Maier and Ruth Grif- fith are giving beauty lessons). LARRY BUSCH 18 FROST BOWL
