In 1943, the angels of 1955 were condemned to the hells - whoops - we mean halls of the Eastside School. Of the juvenile deliquents first admitted only ten have served the full twelve years in Baker. Those ten are as follows: Elaine, Joyce, Ted, Jim, Frank, Bill, Everett, Victor, Steve, and Richard. In 1949, we were put in the custody of Miss Eichenberger. And the next year, that of Mr. Sullivan. Together they decided that we were too bright for junior high, so in May of 195 i we received our diplomas and were turned into the cells of Baker High, Forty-nine of us came into high school with our noses in the air and. though the sophomores flattened them a little, they still seem to be up there. Our freshmen sponsor, Miss Corwin, got so fed up with us that she quit at the end of the year. (Marriage) This year we lost Marie and Darlene (Mickey and Totsy) Voorhees, and Patty Wiseman. We were also invaded by a large force of rural students. We elected Everett B. Lentz, President; Jim Corey, Vice President; Lona O'Connor, Secretary; Joyce Stevens, Treasurer; and Kay Coldwell, Reporter. Then a three month vacation. Forty-eight of us eagerly came back in the fall and promptly put the lowly freshmen in their places. The going was a little rough this sophomore year. We lost two sponsors, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Good, plus Anabelle Malenovsky, Reggie Schweigert, Beverly Clark, and Schorsch’s sweater. And were blessed by two new comers, Della Mae Ammons and John Mastel. •Officers this year were: President,Joyce Stevens; Vice President. Lila Renner; Secretary, Lona O’Con- nor; Treasurer, Wayne Moline; and Reporter, Elaine Smith. (The girls were in the majority this year.) Vacation (again on time). Forty-five students returned to start the junior year. Under the sponsorship of MissCasady, we had a very successful year. We, under her direction, put over a very successful play entitled, IF MOTHER ONLY KNEW! Then in the spring we favored the seniors with a prom, the theme of which was MAKE BELIEVE. Junior officers were: President, Bill Hufford; Vice President, Jim Corey; Secretary-treasurer, Agnes Freier; and Historian, Lona O'Connor. This year we were heartbroken over the loss of LaVonne Anderson, Shirley Carlson, Carolyn Lockehart, BriceBanere, Diana Smith, Jim Pat Niccum, and Danny Celander, And now? Yup, you guessed it, another vacation. After counting the days all summer, the first day of our senior year finally arrived. We were greeted by three new faces, Billie Wray, lona Cridland, and Virginia Bray ton. Officers this year were as follows; President, Joan Griffith; Vice-President. Victor Scheuffle; Secretary, Lona O'Connor; Treasurer, Agnes Frier-, Reporter, Janice Rustad; and Historian, Alice Wang. With our sponsor, Mr. Heftie, glowingo verus we sneaked off for a few days of rest and touring the Black Hills. We finished up the year with a play, a prom, a music festival, and concert,Baccalaureate,a ban- quet and last, but not least, Commencement.
