MILLIGAN and MILES HOWARD HOTELS - Miles City. Montana 3 Work is a divine provision for developing in us self-reliance, initiative, diligence, and other cardinal qualities. Work should be done in a spirit of gladness and gratitude. No day should be closed without the evidence of new and better achievements. Inevery activity let us do our best, and let the world make its own appraisement. We are what we are. Explanations seldom explain. We can cultivate a fine sense of independence, based up the assurance that we are loyal to a high standard of conduct. Know that through patient and persistent effort we can reach our rightful place in the world. Work is the great developer of power -- the one agency which calls forth hidden forces of mind and body. L. W. Heftie, Superintendent MR. L. W. HEFTIE 'As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. If we want a good society we must see to it that we have good people for its citizens. The Chinese have a proverb which aptly expresses this thought: You cannot carve rotten wood. In other words a good society cannot be made up of inferior citizens. Your parents and teachers have tried to instill in you the basic ideals of good citizen- ship for they realize that if you have the right motives for what you do you will do the right thing. L. Montana Bill Hufford James Corey Janice Rustad f Arnold Karch SERVICE GARAGE Baker, Montana 14 In 1943, the angels of 1955 were condemned to the hells - whoops - we mean halls of the Eastside School. Of the juvenile deliquents first admitted only ten have served the full twelve years in Baker. Those ten are as follows: Elaine, Joyce, Ted, Jim, Frank, Bill, Everett, Victor, Steve, and Richard. In 1949, we were put in the custody of Miss Eichenberger. And the next year, that of Mr. Sullivan. Together they decided that we were too bright for junior high, so in May of 195 i we received our diplomas and were turned into the cells of Baker High, Forty-nine of us came into high school with our noses in the air and. though the sophomores flattened them a little, they still seem to be up there. Our freshmen sponsor, Miss Corwin, got so fed up with us that she quit at the end of the year. (Marriage) This year we lost Marie and Darlene (Mickey and Totsy) Voorhees, and Patty Wiseman. We were also invaded by a large force of rural students. We elected Everett B. Lentz, President; Jim Corey, Vice President; Lona O'Connor, Secretary; Joyce Stevens, Treasurer; and Kay Coldwell, Reporter. Then a three month vacation. Forty-eight of us eagerly came back in the fall and promptly put the lowly freshmen in their places. The going was a little rough this sophomore year. We lost two sponsors, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Good, plus Anabelle Malenovsky, Reggie Schweigert, Beverly Clark, and Schorsch’s sweater. And were blessed by two new comers, Della Mae Ammons and John Mastel. •Officers this year were: President,Joyce Stevens; Vice President. Lila Renner; Secretary, Lona O’Con- nor; Treasurer, Wayne Moline; and Reporter, Elaine Smith. (The girls were in the majority this year.) Vacation (again on time). Forty-five students returned to start the junior year. Under the sponsorship of MissCasady, we had a very successful year. We, under her direction, put over a very successful play entitled, IF MOTHER ONLY KNEW! Then in the spring we favored the seniors with a prom, the theme of which was MAKE BELIEVE. Junior officers were: President, Bill Hufford; Vice President, Jim Corey; Secretary-treasurer, Agnes Freier; and Historian, Lona O'Connor. This year we were heartbroken over the loss of LaVonne Anderson, Shirley Carlson, Carolyn Lockehart, BriceBanere, Diana Smith, Jim Pat Niccum, and Danny Celander, And now? Yup, you guessed it, another vacation. After counting the days all summer, the first day of our senior year finally arrived. We were greeted by three new faces, Billie Wray, lona Cridland, and Virginia Bray ton. Officers this year were as follows; President, Joan Griffith; Vice-President. Victor Scheuffle; Secretary, Lona O'Connor; Treasurer, Agnes Frier-, Reporter, Janice Rustad; and Historian, Alice Wang. With our sponsor, Mr. Heftie, glowingo verus we sneaked off for a few days of rest and touring the Black Hills. We finished up the year with a play, a prom, a music festival, and concert,Baccalaureate,a ban- quet and last, but not least, Commencement. Lona O’Connor Edith Morton Gloria Hartse Carl Hepperle MELODY SHOP and SPORT CENTER Mites City, Montana In the year of one thousand and sixty-five, we the class of '55, find ourselves engaged in a class reunion. With the exception of Elaine Schorsch, formerly Elaine Smith, who is visiting her mother due to the fact that she is re- covering from her last brutal beating by Ronnie, everyone is present. The highlight of the reunion was for each member to tell of their experiences since graduating from dear old BHS. Gary Bruce is running a used motorcycle lot in the middle of the Saharra Desert. His main customers were Charles Woodsend and Sibel Kinsey who were on a cross country motorcycle race. They had to sell their Harley's to buy passage back to their home in Australia. Next name on our roll call was that of Agnes Wiseman, who with her man is operating a hang out for the col- lege kids in Bozeman. With the able assistance of Doris Linden and Frank Gonsiorski who are working their way through college. Jim and !.ona Corey are running a farm and they also told us that they are managing the Carlyle bar for past- time. Next we come to Frank Howe, The Lone Wolf; he has been reported building a home for the illiterate people of Montana. Helping him manage it is Edith Morton. Ted Everson reported that he has made his first million selling liquor to minors, the students of Baker High main- ly. The president of our class, Joan Griffith, is now campaigning for the presidency of the United States. Her cam- paign manager is Dale Wyrick who is getting a new pair of boots out of the deal. Joyce Stevens who told us that she is now making cheerleading her career. She is now working with the Globe Trotters. The ping pong champions of our class, Everett Lentz and John Mastel, are trying to win the ping pongchampion- ship of the world at this present date. We wished them much luck. Miriam Kirschten, who is living in one of the suberbs of Baker, left her oil wells long enough to come to the class reunion. Delbert Schweigert is still going to good old Baker High, trying to makeup his last year of football that he missed in his Senior year. Next on the agenda is Delphine Krausz who stated that since she has graduated from Baker High she has had an eventful life traveling around the world as a professional singer. Under the management of A1 Setera and traveling with them is Richard and his Nitro Five.” The main feature of the band is Hoochy-Koochy Karch with his slide trombone. He has been working on a song called the Della Ammons Blues . Kay Coldwell was next to report that she is teaching commercial subjects at dear old Baker High. Her life long ambition is to equal the career of her former commercial teacher, Delmar Lewis. Gloria Hartse who finally decided on Carl Hepperle. They have reported taken over the dealership of selling Rolls Royce in the vicinity of Plevena. We were next informed that Julia Anne and Jack Krieger are making a very profitable living shipping freight up and down the Sandstone Creek, north of Baker. Hot Rod McClain who came to the reunion via rocket ship has reported that he is driving in the Indianapolis Speedway. We wish all our luck to him and his old Chevy (OLD SMOKIE NUMBER ONE). Clara Manke is trying to get her Master Degree in home making said that she will, upon graduation, go to Ice- land to teach home ec. t In the back of the room we hear the faint roar of Robert Waterland and his favorite phrase seven comes eleven . He is back there shooting dice with Billy Peterson and Gary Perry who are just shedding their shirts. Seems as though Bunny is still up to his old tricks. Alice Wang reported that she just got back from a trip around the world. Seems as though she won the Soggy- Soggy Breakfast Food Jingle Contest. Accompanying her on the trip was the head salesman, Victor Scheuffele. Virginia Brayton, who is now the president of the Baker PTA ias said to have been at a meeting last night where she has appointed Janice Rustad and Billie Wray to head the Committee to clean up vice in Baker High School. Over in the corner is heard the famous roar, FORD!! !! --CHEVY! !! ! Seems as though Bill and Wayne are still arguing about which is the better car. Neither one has given an inch in the past 10 years. We were informed that Lila Renner is very happy with her life as a tool-pushers wife. She has been living in Ethiopia for the last few years. We the prophecy committee of one thousand and fifty-five, find ourselves still all out of breath running from the mob oi people who we so cleverly embarrassed, close this--well--ah--any way, we close it.
