We, the Seniora of ’48, started our careers of mischief, deviltry, and general misbehavior in 1936 at the Joint, ah------excuse me, the Eastside School The reason we call it the Eastside School is because it is on the East side» The outs tending and moat brilliant students during these six years were the seniors of 148 Because of our brilliance, we graduated to the Junior High, which was under the tutorship of Kiss Elchenberger The top pupils in our stay there wore Elaine Barrett, valedlctortan, and Donald Kingsley, salutatorian After two years of hard work, work that is, we were permitted to enter the sacred halls of Baker High as Freshmen» The first week of our stay in Baker High we elected the following of- ficers: Prank Eckes, President, Ruth Berge, Vice President, Elaine Barrett Secretary, and Junior Moline, Historian We had Mr Ray Eggen as our spon- sor After a few weeks, in order to become full-fledged students, we under- went the privileged ceremony of initiation The girls wore their overalls backward, carried toothbrushes, and straightened their hair The boys had to wear night-gowns and hair ribbons in their curled hair. They also carried purses Both boys and girls had to repeat nursery rhymes A dance was given by the Sophomores on Friday. Thus, we became full-fledged stu- dents, with the aid and supervision of the Sophomores. Other activities were the painting of the 3 and the spring concert After three month’s vacation we started again During our Sophomore year we had Karl Lentz as President, Adeline Sherva, Vice-President, and Junior Moline w63 our Secretary Our sponsor was Xrs• lladys Oassldy We also elected ten Hoot Owls to the pep club Hoot I Hootl After this came the initiation of the Freshmen and the party We presented an assembly The White Phantom” Tb end our year many of us took part in the Spring Concert and Blendive Festival. Then came another vacation. We returned in September to the welcoming halls of Baker High We elected Donald Martin, President, lone Mongol, Vice—Prosident, and Pern Carlsor. a3 Secretary-Treasurer Our sponsor was Miss Luv Wilson The Juniors, after many weeks of hard, strenuous, practice, presented the play, ”One Wild Night . The Junior Prom was the next main event of tho year The Junior Class presented this in honor of the Senior Class The theme for the prom was a Dutch garden, completo with picket fence, flowers, windmill, and a Dutch boy and girl We also had very nice throne in honor of the queen and prin- cesses • The Spring Concert and Music Festival were the events finishing our Junior year. Then-guess what? Tup—another vacation For our last year in Baker High, the class elected Junior Moline, Pres- ident, Jean Olson, Vice-President, lone Mengel, Secretary-Treasurer, and Donald Kingsley, Historian Our sponsor was Mr Heftie. On April 9, the Senior Class, under the direction of Mr. Heftie, pre- sented the throe-act farce, The Atomic Blonde . 14
