This year there were 12 members and the advisers, Mr. Barnes and Miss Baylis. The main project of 1956-57 was the organization of a SateTeen Club, a safe driving club for teenagers. With the continued help of the Baker Police Department and the advisers, the Council hopes to establish the movement more firmly in the future. As in the past the Student Council also selected an inspection committee to make weekly tours of the school to report needed improvements. The Student Council was the host for the annual Fall Confer- ence of Region l. Through the hard Work of the members and fa! culty members the conference was very successful, Routine duties throughout the year were to allot the dances and concessions to different clubs and organisations and to dis- cuss any problems that arose concerning the school. It has been a very successful and interesting year of student government. PAUL BAUGE, A. S, B. President 5 Standing left to right-Iim Stewart, Lloyd Cole. Is your supply ol science sutticient to effect repairs When the breakers roar and crash? Do you know the rules ot the road laid down by The Master Navigator so you can steer a true course when the seas run high and strong against you? We hope that your stay at this port provokes a resounding Aye as we Wish you Bon Voyage. EVANS Gladys Baylis Mathematics ,.,wxw1,,. 4, ,f ., , , X . MILDRED ZEMMER, Office Secretary THIS, YOUR l957 SCHOOL ANNUAL, reviews your year of study and activities in picture and word. You no doubt will enjoy looking over the year of accomplish- ments at Baker High School and reflecting on the Work com- pleted, the games, parties, dances, plays and other activities in which you engaged. It is certain that in the years to come these experiences, in retrospect, Will mean even more to you. This school is only one link in the never-ending succession of interlocked learning experiences that have been and will be available to you, lt is hoped that you profited much from your life in this school ccmmunityg and it is the wish of this school that you have gained an urge to make every experience of work and recreation always an educational experience. A and B CHOIR The Baker High School A Choir is composed entirely of iuniors and seniors and every member has had at least one year of B Choir before being admitted. The purpose of the A Choir is to proe vide advanced training and to perform tor special occasions. This school year the Choir presented the fifth annual Candlelight Service, assisted by the B Choir. Male Quartet and Or- chestra. The Choir also was invited to sing ior the Oregon Music Educators' As- sociation in Portland, March 14th. Spring Festival time again found the Choir at- tending, this year at La Grande. A spring program was given in May. All in all, the Choir had a busy year. The B Choir contains mostly sopho- mores and is the training or leeder group for the A Choir. The activities of this group include assistance to the Christmas program and spring program. It is a very important organization. Though it doesn't receive the recognition the A Choir does. without it the A Choir would suf- ler. greatly, for the ability of the B group determines the success of the next year's 'A Choir. GLEN I-IOBBS has been active in stage design and construction since he entered Baker High School. I-le has been Stage Manager for all nine of the high school plays given during the past three years, and has even found time to play roles in two ot them, The Family Portrait and Dino. He has pursued his dramatic interests further as Vice-President and then President of the Baker chap- ter of National Thespians, and he was presented the Outstanding Contribution Award in Dramatics at the end of his senior year.
