One was a formal debate which turned out to be as interesting as the splitting ot the atomg the other turned out to be quite humorous. Individual Seniors took part in many school activ- ities and organizations. The Senior Class sponsored its traditional dance in March. The Senior Skip Day which was the last activity for most Seniors in BHS. was quite atomic to say the least. liie ' Iohn Henzcz President ' Don Thompson Vice-President pqgeg ' Evel n Vo les Y Y Secretary MARY IO ALLISON Nlckname' lady Future: U. ' .sir rtsr THE HIGH SCHOOL BAND, while not quite as large as in past years, was an outstanding organization in many respects. lt was an excellent marching unit during the football season and ree ceived many plaudits for its work in the mud and rain at La Grande on Armistce Day, During the winter, the full band played for all the home basketball games. In concert work, the band had a leading part in the Gayeties, an all-school variety show. Three evening concerts and participation in the Eastern Oregon Music Festival at La Grande rounded out a full year's schedule. THE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR made its first appearance at the 'lGayeties in the fall. Since that time, there have been appearances at assemblies, the school's Christmas program, Iunior high assemblies, three evening programs, and the Festival at La Grande. Our choir was voted the outstanding choral group in the contest both last year and this year. Both band and choir are directed by W. D. Shamberger. THE ORCHESTRA, directed by Clarence Iarnes, is made up primarily of under-classmen. There are no seniors and only three juniors in the group so we definitely expect a really ex- cellent orchestra in a few years. The orchestra took part in two evening and several student assemblies. 0 Front row, lclt to right - Prock, Simonsen, Payton. M. Patton. Gilbert. Miller. Ferree, Ieifords, Winemiller, E. Only two regulars from last year, Church and Emlaw, were on deck to forrn the nucleus for this growing team. A lack of depth in positions cost ball games in the second halves. Next year's pros- pects are very good! Many lettermen are returning and from the best frosh club in the history of the school will Allen Grove Football Track Kenneth Dow Football Wrestling Ray Stoddard Football Everett Clarry Baseball Basketball Roy Seeborg Basketball Intramural Athletic: George Surgeon Basketball come much good material. BASKETBALL SEASON started fast in spite of early season injuries to regu- lars which slowed progress. Pete Srack, who was rounding into top shape at forward, injured his knee in the second Nampa game and was side- lined for six weeks. Iohn Heriza suf- fered a bone infection early in Decem- ber and was out for six weeks. Baker won 15 games and lost l2, with the La Grande competition being very tight, especially in the last two games. High scorer was Ken Dougherty with 235 points. The free-throw award went to Dick Emlaw who hit 68 per cent. Avi' ww-... Y I-n. -L. -...,,,ssA.
