Supplementing its previous responsibilities, the council in order to become more efficient divided itself into departments in the same manner as a cabinet-each of the ten members acting in an ad- visory position for a different school activity and investigation. A student court consisting of six members and a chief justice was established as one or the gen- eral welfare programs of the school. Many social activities, school pay assemblies and exchange assemblies were arranged during the year. A courtesy campaign was sponsored. The handbook was revised and suggestions for the revision of the constitution were presented to the student body. An educational trip was made by the council to a representative high school of a neighboring state to study its manner of conducting student affairs. -Mary Jane Palmquist Second Row: Morin, Ord, Fishback, and Worley. The social graces ol' courtesy, kindli. ness, and helpfulness have always been in vogue. The purpose of our organization is to promote good will and friendliness among the girls. Programs for the monthly meetings were carefully planned in advance by Virginia Chandler. Through- out the year different girls were chosen to take part in the Leauge's Presentations thus giving each girl a chance to participate. Hazel Long was in charge of the noon dances , given each Friday. Dancing remains ever popular and students who brought their lunches found them a delightful noon diversion. The admission charge of a penny per person brought in sufficient money to buy more dance records. A girls' rest roomw, which was planned and arranged by Barbara Peterson and Beatrice Clough, was another of the League? accomplishments for the year. This rest room is a boon to students who are in need of first-aid. One ofthe annual spring events was the Girls' League conference which was held in Baker. Baker girls were glad to welcome girl repuesentati-ves from Baker, Grant, and Union counties, ln May they gave their Mother-Daughter Tea. - Ruth Denton Top Row: Miss Endicott, adviser, Dooley, Campbell, Chandler. Agriculture has always been the most important industry throughout the world. The Baker F. F. A. represents a group of boys who are finding inspiration for the age-old occupation. The aim of their organiation is to develop competent, aggressive, rural and agricultural leadership: to create and mature a love of country lifeg to strengthen the confidentce of farm boys and young men in themselves and their work: to create more interest in the intelligent choice of farming as an occu- pationg to encourage members to improve farm and home surroundingsg to develop industrial farming programs and develop character, train for citizenship and patriotism: to participate in cooperative ef- fortg to encourage practice of thriftg to encourage improvement of scholarship, and to develop organ- ized rural recreational activities. During the year the F. F. A. has been a very active organized group. They sponsored a Parent and Son Banquet, Farmers' Day, and a very successful dance. They entered into an Eastern Oregon Public Speaking and Parliamentary Porcedure Contest, F. F. A. Stock Judging at the Pacific Interna- tional Livestock Show, Fat Beef show and auction in the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show, and the Baker Cow-Horse Show. This year's activities have all been successfully managed by its officers under the advisorship of Lyman Patton. -Phyllis Metcalf If F 24. '+G l LETTERMEN S CLUB 'f' The club members lcomposed of letter winners from the major sports, football, basketball, track, boxing, and Wrestlingl have tried to better the present status of the club. A new constitution was written to cover all the lettermen's activities throughout the year. Also, during the basketball season and the Eastern Oregon Tournament the boys kept order in the gymnasium by ushering and policing the floor. The number of members has increased due to the addition of three new sports-boxing, Wrestling, and trackxto athletic facilities. The members cooperated with administration to boost the attendance at basketball games by selling season tickets to the public. At the end of the school year the Lette1'men's Club had their annual picnic. The purpose of the Girls' Athletic Association is to promote sportsmanship among the girls and give them a chance to participate in athletic activities. Girls of all three classes are eligible for mem- bership. By taking part in the different activities, the girls earn points. The activities are many. Among them are volleyball, basketball, tumbling, baseball, dancing, hiking, ping pong, tennis, horse- shoes, and tenniquoit. They also sold candy. This year the association has adopted the Oregon Point System. -Alene Lewis SENIOR HIGH ci. 24. fi. A Fin! Row: Creger, Weller, Dennis. Second Row: Oxnard, Morrison, Nyquist, Parsons, May, Matolt.
