I am in my 34th year of teaching, having taught 2 years at Jennings High and 31 years at Baker. The first years at Baker were in the English Spcech department; the last 20 years have been devoted to counseling. I have served as president of the East Baton Rouge Parish Counselors’ Organization and secondary vice president twice. I was a member of two Southern Association evaluation teams and presently a member of the La. Educational Assessment Program Testing Commission. My career in education started in 1964 as a mathematics teacher at McKinley High School. The following year 1 was transferred to Scotlandville High School. In 1967 1 joined the coaching staff as an athletic trainer. At Scotlandville I taught Algebra II, Advanced Mathematics, trigonometry, and calculus. Between 1967 and 1976 I earned a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Southern University and the education specialist degree from LSU. In March of 1976, I joined the Baker High School staff as Assistant Principal for Instruction. The duties and responsibilities of this position are challenging but enjoyable.
