He has been actively involved in many campus organizations such as Mu Sigma, F.C.A. and served as President of the Hi-Y. On the football field, the number 11 was a familiar sight as he earned such honors as the Sportsmanship Award, Hastings Ship III Award and The Tri-Captain Award. Scott Beddingfield A high academic average and a dynamic personality led Scott to be a well known student around 3.H.S. He held membership in the Beta Club, Mu Sigma, Mu Alpha Theta, Senior Cabinet, Acapella Choir, and served as assistant editor of Early Harvest during his senior year. Recommendations from teachers allowed him to attend La. Boys' State. Scott was also a letterman on the varsity tennis team. 48 Who’s Who - Catalina Booth Catalina has been very active in the past four years. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Future Teachers of America, Mu Sigma, Mu Alpha Theta, and Tri-Hi-Y. Buffalo spirit means a lot to Catalina. She was a pepster through high school and served as secretary and vice-president. She was also voted most valuable pepster. She was recently voted most talented senior. During the 1976-77 school year Catalina was the school historian, creating a scrapbook containing memories of the school year. Vanessa Dixon Having served as both pepster and cheerleader at B.H.S., Vanessa is a well known student at school. She is an active member of the Beta Club, Mu Sigma, Z-Club and Tri-Hi-Y. English and drama occupied much of Vanessa's time. She twice participated in the district English Rally, placing 1st and 2nd. During her senior year, she tied for 1st place In the La. State poetry contest. She also participated in the productions of George M. and Good Times. In 1976 she was crowned La. State Talented Teen. Who’s Who 49 Melanie Langlois High scholastic achievement and participation in a wide variety of activities were of interest to Melanie. She held membership in ten school organizations, holding the office of President in the Pepsters, Mu Alpha Theta, Mu Sigma, and Beta Club. She was also an active member of the Student Council and Foreign Language Club as well as several religious organizations at church. Melanie graduated at the top of the 1977 graduating class in the position of Valedictorian. Larry Latino Although a midterm graduate of B.H.S., Larry still found time to participate in many of the various organizations on campus. He was an active member of the Beta Club, Mu Sigma, Student Council, Stampeeders, Senior Cabinet, Student Bi-Racial Committee and was Past Master Counselor of the State Executive Council of the Henri M. After retiring, she plans to spend time traveling, fishing, working with ceramics, and visiting relatives. Mr. Poydras has been teaching school for twenty-seven years. For the past five years he has taught Chemistry at Baker High. After retirement, he plans to take an extensive vacation, and seek employment in continued education for young people. The Battlin’ Buffaloes stampeded past the Buccaneers of BROADMOOR High School 26-13 in a non-district quad-A contest on the Buffs home field. Baker staged a second half stampede to crush the crusaders of BROTHER MARTIN High School of New Orleans in a 35-0 victory. 148 Football Football 149 150 Football The Buffs stampeded to a quick 14-0 lead in the first period, but had to fight for their hides in the remaining three quarters to turn back the previously unbeaten LEE High School Rebels 22-13 in a hard-fought battle at Wedge Kyes Stadium. On their first road trip of the year the Buffs traveled to BOGALOUSA to defeat the Lumberjacks 7-3. Baker suffered their first setback at the hands of arch rival and quad-A state champions, COVINGTON 20-0. The Buffs rediscovered their winning ways with a 20-6 District 7-AAAA football victory over the Tigers of SLIDELL in Slidell.
