However, in 1900, tile School reopened with more so Baker Presbyterian Church, which was located across the street from tin present site of the church. Astlo continued to increase, it became necessary to find a permanent location. In 1913, the school board p ■ b acres of land at the present location of the school on Groom Road and constructed a frame building, wh; three elementary classrooms and two high school classrooms, at a cost of S3.300.00. In 1918 a new gym and a home tage were creeled. This gym was built with funds raised by local people. In 1939 another first—loot hull—was initiated at Baker I li under the direction of Couch Cachere and Assistant Coach Robert J. Aerlker. Struhbe McConnell was the first director of the sixty members in the band. 1919 was a bam Bilker High School. Baker High won th. ship, having defeated all the city schools. In addition, the school became a class school with a stink of 93ft and a faculty of 33. From its inception as a one-room school. Baker High has grown into a vast modern complex. It w.i efforts of its farsighted administration, efficient personnel. Cooperative student body, and loyal chi ■ progress was made.
