History Of BAKER HIGH SCHOOL ity slhool When America went to war in 1941, many changes and adjustments were thrust on her citizens. With the influx of greater army personnel and war-workers at Fort Benning in 1941 tlrere arose a demand for better housing facilmes. The Housing Authority j of Columbus, under the leadership of Brown N cholson, met the demand with the construction of Newton D. Baker Vil- . lage.
