The Bears led until Eastland tied the score, 7-7, in the third quarter. Then, with 35 seconds left in the game, the Mavericks kicked a 35-yard field goal. The defense did a great job holding the Mavs on three goal line stands. Duncan led with 24 tackles. BAIRD VS. HAWLEY, 21-0 October 12, here In the first district game, Baird jumped to a 14-0 lead after recovering an on-side kick. Aus- tin scored two TD's. Morgan made the final TD after the Bears recovered a fumble on the 4- yard line. Bohannon added the PAT's. Out- standing on defense were Duncan, Grant and Fears. Football-55 BAIRD VS. HAMLIN, 21-7 October 19, there Baird spoiled Hamlin's homecoming and scored a great victory for the Bears. In less than two minutes of play, Baird took the lead with a TD by Austin. The FHA year began in the summer with the sale of school spirit pillows in a booth at the Fourth of July Country Fair. After school started, a coke party was held for freshmen and pro- spective FHA members. Hallow- een brought a costume party for members and their dates.
