IAHIIRIDGB VS. CAIRO 12-S The Bearcats opened the season clawing at the Cairo Syrupmakers before a crowd of 4,000. The first half was a hard fought battle with Kenneth Rice plunging over the goal line in the closing 30 seconds. In the second half Cairo scored twice before the Cats began to click. In the last two minutes, the Cats cut loose on a spine-tingling passing attack which left the crowd limp, and the Cats cold on the three yard line when the clock ran out. In their initial game of the season the Bearcats let the crowd know they were a hustling club, and nothing but better things could be expected of them. BAINBRIDGE VS. AMERICUS 7-7 The game opened with the Bearcats kicking off to Americus. Americus was forced to punt, when Sharber charged in and recovered a fumble for the Bearcats. The Cats immediately reeled off two first downs and Rice pushed over for the TD. The extra point was good, due to the spectacular running of Phil Early. The Cats kicked off to the Panthers and behind excellent blocking, the Panthers returned the kick for a TD. and added the extra point. The Bearcats moved inside Americus' 20 yard line on several occasions, but could not generate enough power to score. MANAGERS Ronny Dean Hugh Davis Dun Hodges BAINBRIDGE VS. COLQUITT 14-0 For the first time in four years, Bainbridge played Colquitt on a dry field. On the second play of the game, Colquitt fumbled and Bain- bridge recovered. Taking advantage of their break the Cats scored in the first minutes of the game with Gordon Searcy rambling around end. Fullback Rice plunged over for the extra point. The Bearcats threatened several times in the last half before they mustered the scoring power for their final tally. The Pirates offensive attack was held to a minimum by the Bearcat line, sparked by Sharber, Marchant, Sullivan, Little, and Ingram. BAINBHIDGE VS. ADEL 32-12 The Bearcats stormed their way to a win over the Hornets, and kept them scoreless until the last quarter. The Cats took the lead early in the first quarter when Adel fumbled on the first play of the game and Rice carried the pigskin over for the first touchdown for Bainbridge. Adel fum- bled again a few minutes later and Daniels eased around the left side for the second touchdown. Rice went wild and racked up two more TD's for the Bearcats behind the blocking and beautiful running of Alford, Little, Bennett, Sharber, and Marchant.
