CLASS HISTORY September 4, 1951, eleven bashful freshmen enrolled in Bagley High. They were: Robert Champion, Edwin Warrington, Edward Kress, Dale French, and Helen Plondke from Bagley: Robert Barr and Edward Gilkes from Hazelton: and Catherine Stagman, Lavonne Esser, Eugene Cota, and Ronald Fishler from Brodtville. Our high school days were started off properly by being initiated by the sophomores. After two weeks, Ronald Fishler quit school to help on the farm. On Monday of our third week, Herbert Baures came from Livingston. The beginning of the second six-weeks Andris Lubavs entered from Chicago, Illinois. After the first semester Andris moved to Monticello, Iowa. We were guided through the year by Mr. Hanrath, principal: Miss Studier, English teacher: and Mr. Willis, science and mathematics teacher. September 1, 1952, we entered as sophomores. To start the year off right, we proudly initiated the freshmen. Our teachers were Mr. Hanrath, principal: Miss Studier, English teacherg and Mr. Millard, mathematics and science teacher. September 7, 1953, we all returned as juniors with the exception of Herbert Baures who was hurt in an accident during the summer. He did his schoolwork at home. Edward Kress left us soon after school started to attend Bloomington High School. We purchased our class rings from Iosten's and received them before Christmas. Our teachers were Mr. Clark, principal: Miss Linhardt, English teacher: and Mr. Millard, science and mathematics teacher. Edwin Warrington left school. We then elected Eugene Cota as class president. The theme for our prom was Blue Hawaii . Eugene Cota and Gloria Blackbourn reigned as king and queen. Edward Gilkes and SuZanne Brouillard were duke and duchess. Roger Horst- man and Beatrice Brandt were prince and princess. August 30, 1954, nine of us entered as seniors. Donald Fishler joined us from Campion. Mr. Hamil- ton is our new principal and our new English teacher is Mrs. Zellinger. Mr. Millard remained as our science and mathematics teacher. We had our senior pictures taken by Obma Studios in Dodgeville. We sponsored a dance and class play. Robert Champion was high magazine salesman for the sophomore year and this year. We have enjoyed our days in Bagley High and are going forth to face the future with pleasant memo- ries of our school. GRO CH We think that you should know: That we are still cold but are getting used to it now. That it is all right to study about the birds and the bees in biology class but screens on our windows would help keep these out of our hair in the rest of the building. That each pupil in school should be provided with a fly swatter. That swimming should be taught in our school so anyone may navigate the lower hall while a shower is being taken. That something should be done about our stage so that more than half of a play cast may be seen from all parts of the gym. CLASS PROPHECY On May 16, 1965 at the reunion of the 1955 graduating class of Bagley High, we were surprised, pleased and amused to find out the following about our classmates. Eugene Cora is still a big Butter and Egg man. He now controls much of the production and selling of these products in Wisconsin. He is married to a former cheerleader of his alma mater. S Fay Gilkes is now a circuit court justice, is married, and has three little justices. Robert Barr recently became head coach of the University of Wisconsin basketball team. Catherine Stagman is running .the Brodtville store. Clothing for ladies has been added. On bargain days men won't go near the place. Herbert Baures brought his family in the same jalopy he drove while in high school. He just can't seem to part with it. Dale French broke his leg when he fell into an old lead mining shaft on his father's farm while painting boyhood scenes. Donald Fischler entered the priesthood and is now teaching science at Campion in Prairie du Chien. Lavonne Esser has her new studio in La Crosse, where she and her husband are the leading exponents of the dance. V Robert Champion has decided to remain in the United States Air Force for a few more years. We hope that the entire class may be together again in 1975. CLASS POEM We've finished twelve years in grade and high school, And seldom have broken a golden rule. We bid our schoolmates a fond adieu , With lines about each of us, just for you. In baseball and basketball, we lose a star, Heap big Indian , Robert Barr. The girls in school send a bunch of flowers, To the class cut-up, Herbert Baures. A man like my daddy I want to be , Were words spoken proudly by Robert C. Over the bank, Cota's car by a stream, In a huddle were Phyllis. Gloria, and Gene. Kishler, Rishler, Tishler, Dishler, What else will rhyme with Donald Fishler? Over this handsome boy the girls turn pale, Need I tell you the name of French's Dale? Gilkeses raised a baby, Edward Fay: Work knows him not: he likes to play. Catherine Stagman has a blonde top, Which she likes to show at a Checkerboard hop. After the rest are forgotten and gone, We'1l still remember Esser's Lavonne. And now our little poem is done, It was written so we could share our fun.
