Forensics ln 1949 the high school went in enthusiastically for forensics. Twenty-four entered this activity. In our local contest, Janet Bailie, Darleen Pitzer, and Barbara Woodington competed in oratory. Janet and Darleen received A's at the first contest, which was held that year in our gymnasium, but lost out in the league contest. Humorous selections were given by Lorna Dolphin, Bob Fralick, Avery Kelly, Clarice Ward, Carol McKinney, Jeanette Harris, Willis Bedward, Rose Fishler, Clarence Bailie and Edith Gulick. Lorna and Clarice got A's at the local contest but lost out at the league contest. In reading Joann Behlmer, Leila Yager and Mary Valdovinos participated. Joann and Leila received A's at the first con- test, but they also lost out at the league. ln the serious division however, Genevive Cass received an A until she reached Plattville where she was given a C rating. Ruth Nivarel, Janice Trine, Phyllis Kirschbaum, Darlene Ready, Darlene Warrington, Ramona Ward and Jeanette Loehndorf, also took serious declamations. Jeanette received an A only at the first contest. In 1950 there was a decrease in the nurnber of participants, having only ten. Ruth Gulick, the only one taking an oration, received an A until she reached Plattville where she was given a B rating. Bob Fralick, Carol McKinney, Sandra Woodington, Avery Kelly, Ruth Nivarel and Margaret Fishler entered the humor- ous division. Carol and Bob were rated in the A class in our local contest, but received B's at the league contest that was held in Potosi that year. Barbara Woodington, Irene Long, and Jeanette Loehndorf took serious. Irene and Jeanette received A's at the local and B's at the league contest. This year Ruth Gulick again is the only person taking an oration from Bagley. Carol McKinney, Sandra Woodington, Janis Warrington and June Harris have chosen humorous declamations. ln the serious class Ruth Nivarel, Elaine I-laville, Margaret Fishler, Irene Long, LaVon Sandleback, and Jeanette Loehndorf have taken serious declamations. Our first contest in Bagley will be held Wednesday, March 14th. Bloomington was chosen to hold the league contest which will be held March Zlst. We hope Bagley will have some contestants that will goto Plattville this year. e 14
