F ,Q '4 ' 5 4 S . 9 1 F' N ! 1 .4K,, X,f 1 fl! g 'f ' A i Q WWW? ,S wud 'H.--3' CD!Cl.S'.S'Q.S' C aaa sjwaafwy In 1943 the present Senior Class entered the halls of dear old Bagley as green freshmen That year was a whirl of learning the right names to go with the right faces tuning our ears to the right bell and in general trying to be like our upper classmen Our president that year was Charlene York and our Queen was Jimmy Smullms Our present sponsor Miss Billie Barton started with us in the beginning of the Freshman year By the time we were sophmores we were beginning to feel at home We elected Ruth Dreasler for our president and Nina Fern Porter for our class queen Our main topics for between bell gossip were shoe rationing V mail a skinny guy called Sinatra and a freckle faced one named Van Johnson and the new song Don t Fence Me In As Juniors we began to feel our importance as upper classmen We took leading parts in all drives and activities sponsored by the school We had as presi dent Maglen Nichols vice president Byron Morris secre tary Betty K Sollock and treasurer Johnnie Thompson The highlight if the year was our Junior Senior banquet which followed the theme of the rainbow and was held in the dining room of Florence Wilson Hall in the Rainbow Room on Thursday May 2 We began our Senior year in 1946 We were seniors and the world vias ours We chose Johnnie Thompson for our president Byron Morris for our vice president Rebecca Chadvsick for our secretary and Velma Capps for our treasurer. We selected Wanda Chapman for our class queen for the Homecoming Parade Our coke- room chatter vias concerned with the Bagley String Band the new arrangement of room numbers the diamonds that several Senior girls vsere flashing and the latest song hit Ole Buttermilk Skv. Being seniors we had more privileges fincluding sitting on the front row in assembliesb and responsibilities We tried to accept these responsibilities and did all we could to help make this a better year at Bagley Soon we will be leaving to take our respective places in life but we will never forget the wonderful times we have had here -J 5155 lgroplzecy May 23 1962 Dear Rebecca How pleased I was to learn of your reappointment as gow rnor of Haw an Congratulations' I am sure you will like to hear the latest news from the members of our class of 47 You aren t the cnly one who has gotten out of the Umted States Fannie Dickson and Alleta Mullms after receiving nurses training at Johns Hopkins University established a hospital for the Eskimos in Alaska Garl Gene Lamons is in South America on an inspection tour for the Standard Oil Company of which he IS now Vice President During a recent visit in Washington D C I ran into Maglen Nichols and Christine Headnch who are both secreta ries to Congresswoman Ruth Dreasler and Velma Capps They told me that Barbara Snod lass is the private secretary to Nlna Fern Porter who has taken Heda Hoppers place in movie circles I guess I am still Just a bobby soxer at heart On my stop ln New York City I could not resist the temptatlon to go to the Stork Club to hear Gene Pyeattes sweet saxaphone fthe latest teen age suoonstatxonl Gene plays ln Buddy Fords dance orchestra While window shoppmg on Fifth Avenue I discovered a very exclusive dress shop xx hxch had recently been opened by Ruth Tackett and Wanda Chapman Of course I had to go ln to say Hello They told me to be sure not to miss the Broadway show in which Mary Louise Carrington is the sensational star My plane trip from the East was a very pleasant one I was really surprised when the air hostess turned out to be Joan Barklage She gave me a magazme to read to pass the time and who do you suppose the glamorous glrl on the cover was None other than Eloise Baker In the magazme was an article about Frank Chapman the great sclentlst who re- c ned the Nobel prize for his ro ket ship which enabled him to explore the moon Back in dear old Oklahoma Byron Morris has Just taken over Hereford Heaven the ranch formerly owned by Roy J Turner While in Oklahoma I stopped in Tahlequah where I found Ellouxse Davis teaching English at Bagley and Betty James Morgan Willie Ryder and Albert Million have a large orange grove in Texas They gave me a crate of oranges w hen I stopped to see them They were delicious Loretta Ballard and Geneva Harris are really domg wonderfurl work ln their school for underprivileged glrls I understand they are receiving financial and from the multlmllhonaxre John Croman tHe made his money in oil you know J You will probably be surprised to hear that Corky Harris IS married now and has five beautiful daughters Jim Ham mond is a family man too with three fme boys who all want to grow up to be handsome movie actors like their dad I read in the paper that Randall Davis has recently been appointed Secretary of Agriculture in the Cabinet of the President of the Unit d States Rumor has it that the President s wife the former Estelle Smith was mfluentlal in the appointment I also noticed that the great sleuth Johnnie Thompson has made headlines agam by breaking up the gangster band that has been terrorlzmg the nation I am lookmg forward to hearing the flght betweer Richard Whalen and Lewis Guenther for the heavyweight cham pxonship of the world Vlrgll Holderby the nation s foremost sports announcer will broadcast it Last night I went to a lecture given by Myrtle Thomas She IS making a lecture tour of the country speaking on Equal Opportunities For Women Virginia Martin is singing on the radlo now You can hea her every Saturday night on the Hut Parade I saw on a circus billing that Billie Snodgrass IS a tight rope walker I understand that this act IS breathtaking I got a letter from Claudette Carroll French this morning She and her husband nova own the Sun Valley winter re- sort in Idaho She told me that Buster Damelson the Skiing wonder is there now I hear my twin daughters waking up from their naps so I must turn my attention to them Your friend always Mrs Ralph Wanegarner I Formerly Miss Betty K Sollockl Bally filling her daddy's former -position in the college.
