Elementary Section They are idols of hearts and of households: They are angels of God in disguise: His sunlight still sleeps in their tresses: His glory still gleams in their eyes. The above poem summarizes the feeling of emotional pride that every parent feels for his child as they start their first day of school. One September second, sixteen enthusiastic children entered our Kinder- garten. The enrollment has remained sixteen although we lost one and gained another. Here an attempt is made to give learning situations for education ap' propriate to the child's development, which will satisfy him in the present and will prepare him for the following years. The first grade of this school year exists because, of transfers, all beginners were registered in Kindergar- ten. Three children made up this group but one was soon lost by transfer. Mrs. Erps again greeted the children in this room. Mrs. Carrick is the second and third grade instructor. She came back into the school room this year to meet thirteen second grade pupils and ten third grade pupils. Mrs. Brady opened the fourth and fifth grade door to have thirteen fourth graders and twenty-two fifth grade students enter. Miss Kistler had twelve seats occupied in the sixth grade and, thirteen in the seventh grade. At the close of the school term the sixth grade had de' creased one, and the seventh had increased another. Many parties were enjoyed by each room. Each month brings along a new holiday to look forward to: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valen- tine's day. Along with the season of the year it is a very common sight to see the boys and the girls trudging to school carrying various objects. In the fall are the footballs, in the spring it is baseballs. Bicycles are a common form of transportation to many of these youngsters. In the winter when the ground is covered with snow familiar sleds come down from the rusty hooks where they have hung all summer. Then arrives spring when the coats are thrown into a faraway corner and soon vacation time is here.
