fxclmnge Studen tA The American Field Service is a private, non-profit, educational organization, Whose purpose is the furthering of understanding and good will among the peoples of the world. lt carries out this purpose abroad to study in American high schools and preparatory schools and to live in Ameri- can families and communlities for a year or for part of a summer. This school year of 1962-63, Badger High has had Christiane Bignens, from Burgdorf, Switzerland. She has lived with the Arthur Kull family. She has given us a greater understanding of Switzerland, and in return she offers her country a clearer View of American life. Page 2 American teenagers represent their schools, communities, and the United States While living with foreign families for six to seven Weeks. In 'becoming the son', or 'fdaughtern of these families, sharing in their daily life and usual sum- mer activities. they have the opportunity of learning about the life and people of another country. They also have the op- portunity of teaching their foreign family and friends about the US, and in so do- ing, build a real understanding between the peoples of the World. In the summer of 1962 a student from Badger High, Becky Gerber, Went to Finland. Hey pic- tures and experiences in Finland have given us a deeper interest in that countrfy.
