Text from Pages 1 - 168 of the 1978 volume:

BACONIAN 1978 The Class of 1978 is honored to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. John Long who has guided our class and aided us in many important decisions. He has earned our respect and admiration and in so doing has become our friend. Teachers who can get their subject matter across and still allow a friendly atmosphere to prevail in their classrooms become respected educators during the school year and friends to be long remembered during the years to come. Therefore, the 1978 Yearbook Staff dedicates Baconian 1978 to Mr. Fred O'Neal, for we feel he is such a teacher. But I've loved these days. MEMORIES Smiles that slowly fade away; good times that are lost in the dusty corners of your mind. How irritating it muust be to only remember bits of things. Still you try to organize the pieces so that they make sense. It comes with age, they say, but you con- tinue to grope back in the dark, dank corners; trying to live in a world that died years ago. Then it ends, no more bits and pieces that never seem to fit together. The memories fade into the past, becoming part of those who still live in a world of fan- tasy. And what will happen when all knowledge of the past diminishes, only to become a legend? Who knows what will happen to the girl who stands so solemnly in her graduation gown forever preserved in a glass frame? — C. Peterson IN MEMORIAM Sandy Anable — Class of 1978 Today I am still close to you in spirit. . . — Albert Camus The Class of '78 This year's Senior Class was a busy one, sponsoring and participating in many important events. Their money raisers included an Inter- national Dinner, a candy drive, the annual Senior Follies, and an election day bake sale. The money they raised went towards the pay- ment of the Senior Banquet, picnic, luncheon and graduation. They also had enough money left over to donate a band uniform to the school. The spirit raising events of the Class of '78 were just as numerous. Two members of the class were foreign exchange students — Teresa Carrasco Vargas of Chile and Tracey Ward from Australia. They had a dress up day to prove that they were the class with class and a baccalaureate service in honor of the fact that this was the one hundred and seventy-fifth graduating class of Bacon Academy. The more active members of the class included president Gary Bowling, vice president Dan Stanavage, secretary Lesley Frost, treasurer Beth Carli and Student Council members Joyce Turner (officer). Sue Cassarino (officer), Denise Rutka (officer), Andrea Pagliaccio. Joe Ruiz, and Jayne Willwerth. I. to r.: Don Stanavage. vice president: Lesley Frost, secretary: Beth Carli, treasurer: Gary Bowling, president To future Yearbook Editors we leave elastic deadlines. To future class presidents we leave the imagination to think up fund raisers other than International Dinners and Dinner Theatres. To the student body of 1978- 79 we leave a worn faculty. To future Seniors we leave a hard act to follow. 43 Compliments of RAY'S PHARMACY Main Street. Col. CT USA EVERETT I.
