-S' -4 FOREWORD THE BGBCATS DEBUT During the 1954 55 school year the Bacon Bobcat was welcomed by the student body as the first official Bacon Academy mascot The pert bobcat exem plifies the never say die spirit and determination of the student body whether it be in the classroom on the athletic field or on the stage As we look back on our years spent within the walls of Bacon our hopes dreams triumphs and defeats stand out in sharp relief Our lirst dance our one act plays our junior prom our Washington trip and senior banquet step out of the pages of the past The advent of the bobcat in our senior year seems to sym bolize our preparation for our future years We are leaving the type of llfe we are going forth with the sp1tt1n courage and tenacity of our bobcat It IS not easy for us to realize now the true importance of this time It is the end of the spring and the begnnmng of the summer of our lives We are anxious to conclude springs last chapter and turn the first leaf of summer yet we pause a little awed and afraid Guided by the bobcat we invite you to follow this record of our experiences at Bacon a record of our later spring As rn the years to come we will look back and remember our happy years through the eyes of this book lf rs frttrng that Bacons first mascot also serve as our theme since we the class of 1955 are the first class to graduate under its watchful eye We are proud to be charter mem bers of Bacon s Bobcats 3 5 ,., t - rx. 7 ' a , , - . . , !
