DRAMATIC CLUB Dramatic Club i The 1943-44 season noted great accomplishments in, the dramatic field at Babylon High School. Early in the year under the sponsorship of Miss Kramers, the Dramatic Club was organized by the talented in each class, electing Edward Weinstein as president and Carole Huber, secretary and treasurer. Christmas realized their first production in the form of Why the Chimes Rang. Later they entertained the student body with several one-act plays, among them one by a student author, Harvey Cardon. The senior play of this year, Dead of the Night, of the mystery-farce variety, scored singular triumph. Undoubtedly this was one of the club's most successful years. Wctoiy C lub The Victory Club, sponsored by Mr. Dorller, has conducted the sale of war bonds and stamps in the school. The club also supplies Mr. Proctor with boys who help him in the col- -lection of salvaged paper. To induce people to buy bonds, the purchaser of the bond is allowed to dedicate it to the honor of some person in the service. VICTORY CLUB

STUDENT COUNCIL Student Council This year, Student Council, composed as always of home- room representatives and club presidents who attended as members ex officio, has made the school a better place. Weekly meetings were presided over by Edwin Frees, and such matters as noon dancing, bond sales, initiations, and assembly programs were handled. Other officers were: Vice-president, Constance Van Ginhoveng secretary, Rosemary Conradyg treasurer, James Whittaker. Press C lub Despite a higher cost of publication and paper shortages, Panther Tales continued to improve and was a financial success. In the past two years our school publication has risen from the ranks of a mimeographed paper to an eight-page monthly complete with pictorial cover, photographs, and smooth surfaced paper stock. Much credit is due this year to the faculty advisor, Miss Har- kins, whose administrative abil- ity and persistence aided in making the club and paper a success. The Editor-in-Chief was John C. Snedeker, aided by Henry Von Mechow as News Editor, and Marianne Snedeker and Katie Whalen as Associate Ed- itors. PRESS CLUB
