AAF Wrth a l1st of softball archery hockey volleyball and basketball to choose from IE IS no wonder that Babylon Hrgh develops the number of femxnme sports enthusrasts that rt does To serve as a further rmpetus for the gals Mrs Rogers records the pornts acqulred by everyone who partrcrpates rn varxous sports At the end of the year letters and certrlicates are awarded 1n accordance wlth these credrts To the rankrng athlete goes the medal of honor won last year by alumna Marguerrte Farrrngton Incrdentally rh1s year there may have to be three such medals srnce the determlned contestants oan Baxter Merrxtt McCully and Mary Van Nostrand have all dug therr fmger narls rn the honor posrtron and refuse to let go judgrng by the response rt gets every year hockey IS the farr halted chrld mtramurals the glrls are watched to determxne the eleven who are the most skrlled These glrls recerve specral coachmg whrch enables them to represent Babylon at Adelphr Thrs year our honor team won two games and tred the thrrd Volleyball IS another favorrte of the grrls but thrs year they over shadowed the1r reputatron by challenglng the faculty We would rather not mentron the outcome but both teams enjoyed themselves rmmensely Wrth the arrrval of 1943 and the desrre of everyone to be prepared for anythlng the grrls have forsaken a few games to get down to the serrous busrness of dr1ll1ng and marchrng rn some gym perrods Although they realrze that the age l1m1ts of most womens mrlrtary branches are beyond them at present th1s trarnmg grves the gxrls a sense of basrc readmess whrch wrll prove rnvaluable should anything develop to warrant the countrys request for young femrnrne recrurts j I l . . 9 7 7 7 , . , . l . . . .
