PUBLIL TIU Important PRESS CLUB meeting today 6th period Many times this year that en try has appeared on the daily notices Then the fun UD begins A cover is chosen the assignment sheet is posted articles come in and proof reading starts Most people believe that proof reading ends the hard 'work but for the editors it has just begun Stories have to be typed checked again words counted and the dummy made up This year seven issues of PANTHER TALES have been printed and enjoyed A great deal of the success of the years publication was due to the well directed efforts of editor in chief Mary Elizabeth Van Nostrand who had as tapable colleagues given to Mrs MacLaury who has acted as faculty ldvisor to our school paper since its reappearance in 1941 Those who were under the sole influence of the Piskies were the TRAWLER staff All credit to our helpful little friends however we know that Ed1tormCh1ef Dorothy Haas who time and again made order out of chaos was responsible for much of our success Right there to handle photography was Assistant Fditor Kenneth White Ruth Swlckhtmer and her literary staff worked diligently to assemble all the copy for the book to the satisfaction of its readers while Virginia Fischer and her typists labored to put it into legible form 7 S ' Y S I - V L . . 535' IJHA The show must go on became more than a catch phrase to our Thespians this year when their coach Mr. Deeringer became part of the supporting cast of the Army. Under the able management of Mrs. Landis, their production And Came the Spring was soon under way and was presented on April 15 and 16. Ann Vidal and Beecher Greenrnan were a credit to the group in their vivacious portrayals of Midge and Buzz, the leads of the play. Equally admirable was a SLIP- porting cast consisting of Mary Elizabeth Van Nostrand, George Gerety. Gloria O'Shea, Martin Kelly, Albert l.'Hommedieu, Daniel Weingrrtd. Ruth Stevenson, Pat Scanlan, Wzxlter lizyk, Henry Mahlman, Alice Vesley and Bill johnson. The plot was enlivened by hilarious circumstances which materialize when a 15 year old adolescent tries to adjust herself to a more mature outlook on life - and particularly her sisters boyfriend. All ends well, nevertheless, with Midges great love finally revealed as mere infatuation. Wfith this combination of an excellent play, topped by excellent players, it is no wonder that the audience received And Came the Spring with such memorable ovation. A fltigfi s. al .555 4 I 1
