U THE IIEANI Student Council STUDENT COUNCIL started the year with a bang when it sponsored a dance featuring Lou Od- do's Orchestra. Victrola dances, including those at noon, were taken over by this group and the pro- ceeds from the latter were used to edit a pamphlet to be sent to all alumni in the armed services. One of the highlights of the years activities was the faculty vs. student Quiz Program presented in assembly. The forty embryonic librarians under Miss Dix- son's guidance have held to their traditional standard of usefulness by each members taking over desk duty at least one period a week. This year the or- ganization undertook the task of collecting auto- graphs of contemporary writers. The highlight of their social calendar was a jaunt to New York where they dined, attended a broadcast and saw the current hit, Janie A few students interested in good music grouped together this year to form the MUSIC CLUB which met Monday noons in the library. XWhiIe they lunched together, they listened to records brought by dif- ferent members. Programs included some Strauss waltzes, a Tschaikovsky group and Wtigner excerpts. At one evening meeting held at a students home, the whole Beethoven Ninth was enjoyed. Miss Dixson was the faculty sponsor. If you have passed the library during a Thursday noon hour and have heard Mr, President shouted vehemently, we hope you werent alarmed. It was only some member of the DISCUSSION CLUB ad- dressing President Kenneth White while in the grad- ual process of acquiring the fundamentals of par- liamentry procedure. The ten members passed many vigorous lunch hours debating every conceivable issue with Miss Taylor acting as mediator.
