In a society where statistics are the primary source of evaluating success, our season represented 3-4-1 numbers that could be assigned to any mere combination lock No, our success evades numerical value Numbers and records will soon be forgotten, but the personal growth and friendships developed through a season of sweat, in|uries, differences, and even death, will remain as building blocks in the lives of all our coaches and players Our success as a football team is only made manifest in an awards banquet, seemingly more like a family reunion. All praise and glory goes to the twelfth man in our huddle. JESUS CHRIST w g,- tr i- a ;. ' -• ' V-- ' ' ' r ' 1 f4 .c-r 1 ■%- i. ' ' )! f - i Row 1 (left to right) David Edsill. Bill Miller. Minus some all-Americans who were with the 1 979 team and would later rejoin the distance squad for the 1 980 track season, the team hung in there for a very successful sea- son. Led by Missouri junior, Greg Lover- camp, the team had little trouble with West- mont, Biola, and Los Angeles Baptist to earn the California Christian College Athletic Conference runner-up trophy behind Point Loma. District III competition was a replay of the conference with AP edging out a stub- born California Lutheran Club for another runner-up place. CROSS COUNTRY HONORS Greg Lovercamp, junior. Sedaha. The young Cougars faced an enormous challenge with their 1 980 season. The schedule included University of Southern California, Arizona Stale, Pepperdine and many other national powers. The fact that only two starters, infielder, Paul Serna, and outfielder, Jon MacMillan, returning from last year ' s confer- ence champions, meant that the early season would be a period of adjustment. Paul Serna lead the team with a .402 average. Following him were Earthell Buckner, Bob Hall, Marty Cordell and Jim McCrary, all batting over 300. Eddie Malone broke the school record for stolen bases with 28. Ken Pryce ' s no-hitter against Division L, Cal State L.A. was the highlight of the Cougar pitching season. Dan Punn Here at APC the frisbee club meets every Wednesday for the ultimate game, one of the fastest, most exciting games today. This game involves precision, pass- ing, team work and amazing aer- ial maneuvers. It requires skill, agility and a go-for-it attitude that will boost the trisbee club members into future stardom in the frisbee world. The frisbee club meets on the lawn between Village and Trinity, but is often asked to leave because of its gnarly behavior which tends to uproot the turf on which they play. Strangely enough, the school supplies this field for use of its students, then kicks them off However, mem- bers have fun anyways, and that ' s what really matters ACTIVITIES 81 8.D.A. From the beginning, our two young stars were madly in love, much to the dismay of their mothers. They appear to be another scene of Romeo and Juliet until we find the plan of their parents, which is to forbid them to see each other with the hopes that their young rebels would disobey and eventually get married.
