Today, iust four years later, she is hosting a student body of nearlytwo thousand, and her curricu- lum has grown to include over 100 different s-ubiects. Every year has seen her become a bigger and better school, and 1960 has been no exception. There have been accomplishments, activities, and events, too numerous to list here, that have changed our campus life into something very special and exciting, some- thing that we want to remember through the years. This is the reason the annual staff has chosen for its theme Memories Are Made of This. Our sole purpose has been to prepare a book that will recall for you all the big, and little things, too, that you want to remember always. We sincerely hope, it's today or twenty years from today, that you will find a hundred and one of the year 1960. staff now takes pride in presenting students of Azusa High School, your 1960 Jean Pearce, Editor in Chief N, mg TE' Q-2, ,. These Seniors, Carole Conley, Dick Sav- are-se, Linda Berry, Barbara Sullivan, Mike Femenia, and David Hawley are enjoying the leisure time afforded them on Senior Dress-Up Day. Directed by Miss Schill, Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, was presented as the Senior Class Play of 1960. W? Our Town is any town, anywhere, any time. It is the story of everyday people--in their growing up and in their marrying and in their dying. One of the most memorable and most important events was our first day of high school, the beginning of our Freshman year. This day was especially noteworthy since we were the first Freshman class at Azusa High School. ' As Freshmen we got off to a good start. Together with the Sophomore class, we named the annual Turoquoi. We then gave the school paper its name, the Aztec Sun. In addition, we helped other partici- pating schools to name the Sierra League. We established high standards to keep our campus clean and our school spirit soaring. Our class, with Administrative help, set up the Student Body government. Our Freshman class officers were elected during the fall semester with Mickey Kelley as our first Gov- ernor, Jack Janss, Lieutenant Governor, Pam Akiin, Secretary, Kay Kilmer, Treasurer, and Ron Rimer- man, Attorney-General. g We began our Sophomore year noted for our strong leaders, our rules of fair play, and our lack of inhibitions. That year, 1957-58, Azusa High School became a full four-year school, something we had long awaited. We elected Sundy Worthy Governor, Phyllis Jenks, Lieutenant Governor, Linda Berry, Secretary, Marcia Brown, Treasurer, and Ron Rimerman,Attorney General. Then came our Junior year with the excitement of class rings and the Junior-Senior Prom. This was the first year that Azusa won the Azusa-Glendora football trophy. Our class officers were Jack Janss, Governor, Theresa Alsop, Lieutenant Governor, Susan Maxwell, Secretary, La Donne Burger, Treasurer, Gregg Van Egdon, Sergeant at Arms. Under the guidance of our class officers, we established student participation in noon supervision and set precedents for future upperclassmen. Now, as Seniors, we are about to leave Azusa High School. At the end of the year, we will close the book to one chapter of our lives. Senior Week , our last prom, and the thrill of the Graduation exercises will always be remembered. This year we have tried to establish Senior privileges that will benefit forthcoming classes. We were led in our many efforts by our class officers Jack Janss, Gov- ernor, Phyllis Jenks, Lieutenant Governor, Kay Kilmer, Secretary, Jean Pearce, Treasurer, and Pat Man- cini, Sergeant at Arms. ln our four years at Azusa High School we have accomplished many things and set many standards, but, along with the hard work, we've managed to have a very good time. Let us hope that our future will be iust as successful as the past. 5554467 ky., , 445 '23 4' I, -.If 4 M Mg' I 'ii Es, :Nw I ix, 55215-L ff? . ,W KN' ' Fff 'ff' ii w x 'A WM .yffgzi 1313 ffjlli' nw' X DR.
