A new elementary school, Walnut Creek School, was put unto use thus year and already has an addituon under construction. The new addrtuon to the Walnut Creek plant will be ready for occupancy un September of 1958. SMITH Mr. Smith tauqht and coached for four years at Wellman, Texas, and for one year at White face, Texas, before entering the Azle School System in September of T953 as o classroom teacher and Head Football Coach. On August 'I of 1957, he assumed the additional duties of high school principal upon the resiqnation of Mr. G.C, Holder. Mr. Smith received his BS degree at Abilene Christian College and his Master's degree at North Texas State College. He is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, the Southwestern Basketball Officials Association, The Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. Mr. Smith organized the first A Club in our hiqh school in the spring of I957. He is the currentsponsor of this group composed of highschool boys who have lettered an the various sports. Mr. Smith and his wife, the former Wanda VanZandt, and their 3 children Patrick, Pamela and Brenda have lived in our community for the past five years.
